I used to buy marked-down ‘Italian’ bread to put cheese on and then toast in my toaster oven.
The cheese crackers I used to love have a hot spice taste and often a bit of burnt taste.
That bread almost never gets marked down now. They make garlic bread out of it nowadays.
Winco in the town 30 miles away. For meat Raleys and for quick items Smart and Final. We have a super Walmart but stay away
When you do price comparisons, Dollar General is a rip off. My local grocery store has better prices.
Walmart is cheap but I prefer to support the local grocery store and luckily, that works out since walmart is 15 miles further away.
I did make a rare trip to walmart yesterday but all I bought were a few items I can only get there.
Walmart, post Sam Walton, paved the way for all things come from China now.
I just shop the sales and am learning to cook with cheap ingredients. $8/lb is my price limit for meat.
Are you still in Moldova?
“There are PLENTY of ways to get yourself fed.”
IF you bother to plan and cook! Too many people are just lazy,...IMHO.
We have found that if we only shop sale items at Albertsons we beat Walmart prices. Over and over. We use Walmart for stuff like cleaning products, toilet paper, etc unless we find it on sale at Albertsons. When we find a good sale item we usually load up. We like having backup.
People on my NextDoor app are complaining that the local Walmart’s massive parking lot is full by 9 AM and stays that way until closing.
Given the cost of living in SoCal, not surprised.
What a TDS jerk.
Totally on target.
All CCP storefronts.
Safeway/Albertson’s is high priced for most onsale items. However, their bakery section is better than Kroger/Fry’s, and (except for the little pies) better quality than Wal-Mart.
Old people’s favorite topic: food.
Trump is your president, deal with it.
"Get your s___ and get out!"
And they don't raise their prices when you shop on line. Neither does Target.
I do all my meat shopping at Aldi.
ALDI- Wagu ground beef $4.99/lb this week. I bought 5 last time. Will buy 5 more today.
Diana: Call the store directly about your account or stop at the office. Maybe you'll get lucky.
Walmart does seem to have some overall cheaper prices, but some of it is still overpriced in my opinion. I shop there all the time. Some of the problem is, I think, that certain things were way overpriced when Biden was president and now even though there is supposedly lower inflation certain overpriced products are not cheaper, but just don’t gain in price as quick as they might have. They are still priced too high due to past inflation.
Agree...I buy ALL my meat at ALDI. Wagu ground beef on sale this week - $4.99/lb.....I made goulash yesterday. Last week, I made meatloaf burgers to fit the bread I get...and froze 8 burgers for sandwiches...add mayo and tomato. Life is good.
Regularly buy their reduced sodium chicken stock (1.69), canned vegetables/fruits.....I order on web and do pickup....works for me. (Age 82)
I buy mine at ALDI...always great taste and price. Wagu Ground beef this week $4.99/lb.
We shop alot at LIDLE too. Although I dont get meat thre...normally just the local grocery chain has the best prices...and I dont buy anything thats not on sale....and when it is..I buy alot of it.
