The steaks there are the same ones when the Sizzlers shut down.

Sizzler got killed by the “beef is bad for you” movement in the past 30 years.

I always liked Sizzler and applaud this effort however, with the price of steak now I dunno.

I can barely force myself to buy one in the grocery store and cook it at home.

I can afford it......but it’s the principle.....$20 for a boneless ribeye?

My experience at Sizzler was that the “steak” was a half pound of gristle and barely edible. If they come back I hope they have improved quality.

I LOVED going there as a kid! Endless nachos. I’m really hoping they succeed and manage to open back up here in IL as well. This state isn’t very business friendly.

Luby’s was good when I lived in San Antonio but it was more of a cafeteria than a steak restaurant. I’d like to see Sambo’s come back along with the commercials to watch the heads explode.

I always liked Sizzler, Ponderosa, and Golden Corral. I hope they make a comeback.

I had a friend who worked at one back in the day. He said all their steak was round steak cut into different shapes.

Private equity must be running out of existing chains to asset strip.

Yeah, they were pretty good. I think I might have eaten there once. I hope they are successful.

I used to join my family to one back in the 1970s and didn’t know they were still around.

A couple of decades ago I used to go to a Black Angus which i thought was one of the better low/mid range chains. I don’t live in their area anymore so don’t know if they are still decent.

Woo hoo! The Sizzler comin’ back! I liked their salad bar, and truthfully I went to the Sizzler many a time during my lean years. A good steak? No ability to really know those days.

I wonder about the prices they will have nowadays though. Steak prices have gone through the roof.

I wish them success.

There’s still a Sizzler in Blythe, California, off Interstate 10 about halfway between Phoenix and LA. We had one here in Mesa until recently when it burned down. That location was once a closed Mexican restaurant and the Sizzler was open probably around two years before the fire. When I was growing up in SoCal, they were all over the place. I think there is still one in Irvine/Mission Viejo near the I-5. I always liked them, especially the salad bar and baked potato bar.

I remember back in the late 1970's when I was in the Air Force stationed in Guam and they had what they advertised as the largest Sizzler steak house in the world (they also had the largest McDonalds and the largest KFC--mostly for the benefit of Japanese tourists and honeymooners who were flocking there at that time). Anyway, the Sizzler there had one of their "All You Can Eat Ribs" weekends. The thing is, Guamanians LOVE spareribs and they ran out of them on the first day. When the latecomers went there and found out there were no more ribs, there were almost riots. I don't think they ever had that particular promotion there again.

Affordable steak is a tricky concept. No one wants to eat the type of steak that is affordable. It tends to not be that good.

Another chain that has recently come back from the dead is Hot N Now. They just built two new ones.

74 Sizzler restaurants

Well that’s 74 more than I thought they still had…

“Sizzler’s Chief Growth Officer”

Never heard of that title. Regardless, a SIZZLING stake sounds mighty good.

We didn’t have a Sizzler close by but instead a Western Sizzlin’ which had the biggest baked spuds you’ve ever seen- and they were baked all the way unlike so often these days !
