A federal judge ordered the Trump administration on Thursday to fund food stamps in full for roughly 42 million low-income Americans, after admonishing the government for delaying aid under the nation’s largest anti-hunger program during the shutdown.
The order, issued by Judge John J. McConnell Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, marked his second legal rebuke of the administration for actions that threatened to leave millions of Americans at risk of financial hardship.
Reading his directive from the bench after a short but tense hearing, Judge McConnell sharply criticized the administration for ignoring his original order last week to quickly restart payments for SNAP, or food stamps. .... By its own admission, the Agriculture Department had ample funds to continue the program. But it took the intervention of two federal courts, including an order by Judge McConnell, before Mr. Trump’s deputies moved to restart food stamp payments.
Shortly after the judge’s first directive, the Trump administration announced it would provide partial payments under SNAP this month. But many local officials quickly objected to what they saw as a set of punitive and needlessly complex rules, warning that the work to implement them could delay food stamp payments for weeks.....

Clearly the judge is a democrat because he wants us to spend money we don’t have. I wonder if Trump could remove any money from the Judges salary to pay towards SNAP?

Explain to me how Article III gives power to Federal judges to authorize disbursements of Federal funds when that power is clearly granted exclusively to Congress under Article I, and the rules for the disbursement of any discretionary funds are either clearly stated (leaving no wiggle room for pinko jurists) or left to Presidential decision.
If the Trump admin doesn’t draw a line somewhere, that’ll be coming next.
Then Medicare.
Then Prescriptions.
Then Federal Pensions...

Yes, that was my first thought. Looks like we don’t need no stinki’ CR with the Federal judges in control. Actually, we don’t need a Congress. So, where does the judge think Trump is supposed to find the money? Does the judge think his ruling will create the needed money out of thin air?
Exactly. The judge is doing it to give the MSM and social media feeds some fodder against Trump, all while neither the judge nor Trump has the authority to create funding from thin air.
But now each judge is The Law within his district (and also without, if he feels like it), and the judge has passed a Bench Appropriation.
Why should the Duke of Rhode Island wait for the commoners in Congress to tell him what the law is?
