I have never seen a thin person using SNAP. Not saying they don’t exist, just that I have never seen one.

And how much they’re given. No wonder they’re always buying luxury foods! Plus, most kids are fed free breakfast and lunch in school.

No wonder they’re always buying luxury foods!

They resell those for cash to buy drugs.

Some of them, sure. But I’ve also witnessed the direct consumption of $20/lb steaks, for example.

The “contingency fund” has about 50-60% of a month’s worth of funding.

I am sure it is an excercise to figure out if you fully fund for 3 weeks…hoping for a resolution in that time or fund at 55% for everyone for the month.

Either way it is not going to make “the hungry” happy. I put that in quotes because I am sure there is a good percentage of folks who are not really “in need” after three days of non-funding.

When you think about this, it is clear this is a propaganda tool. No kid should go hungry. But free breakfast and lunch are available at almost every school in this country. No school aged kid is going to “starve.”

Instead of EBT cards, give them an address to a food bank and tell them they can have credit of XXX dollars. This way, there is only food money instead of junk and other crap getting bought.

Well ?... 20$ per lb? You cant legislate those who receive SNAP benefits that they may NOT consume
red meat, chicken or fish and they be vegetarians only. In my mind thats authoritarian.

You cant blame SNAP recipients for the high cost of red meat, either. Acriss the board, high cost(s) affect everyone whether you eat it or not.

If your statement means that you wouldnt pay 20$’s lb thats on you, no one is prohibiting you from a nice juicy steak.

I agree with you. They should be given credits for real food at specific warehouses. Anything else is ridiculous! Where is Kennedy on this? MAHA!

The federal government should refuse to send any funding to any state refusing to share its SNAP data.

And I say that as someone who lives in NYS.

More here, alomg with a chart...

Mike Netter
@nettermike

The 21 states that refused to send their SNAP data to the USDA are:

California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Illinois
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Nevada
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
And, of course, Washington, D.C. is in the mix too.

These states are stonewalling because they know the fraud is massive. When you hide the books, it’s never to protect the honest folks—it’s to cover up the rot. Meanwhile, the states that did cooperate are already exposing exactly the kind of abuse the left swears doesn’t exist.

Look at how the numbers grow for Snap in California.
From just under 6 billion in 2019 to just over 11 billion in 2021

California received at least $12.6 billion in federal SNAP benefits in fiscal year (FY) 2024, which is 99% of the state’s total food assistance funding for that

The FY21 numbers on newly established SNAP recipient claims make California look like it’s living in an alternate universe.

California: 227,927
Texas: 11,962
New York: 14,417
Florida: 14,559

California’s got sky‑high error and agency claims, hundreds of thousands, yet only 66
