Michelle Obama exercised her right to bare arms in the White House, but she wasn't the first to do so.
(snip)
Asked how she coped with the high level of criticism about her appearance back then, she tells PEOPLE, "I took it for what it was, pure hypocrisy." In the book she details the time when she was railed against in the media for wearing sleeveless dresses to events as first lady.
The dual standard, she says, was obvious. "I could pull up pictures of Jackie O in a second and see this fashion icon in sleeveless dresses as First Lady. So at a point you’re like, 'Oh, this is politics.'"
She continues, "'If you can’t beat them, make everybody scared of them.' That was the motto. If it wasn’t the clothes, it was 'that terrorist fist bump.' It was every word that we said. It was my husband’s tan suit."
The former first lady reveals she had a hand in helping pick the infamous tan suit that was deemed "unpresidential" when the former President wore it while on official business back in 2014.
"I loved that tan suit! When he had it on, I was like, 'Oh my God, you look so cute'," she says. "[Then] I was like, 'Oh, you got clocked for that one. Welcome to my world.' That was toward the end of his presidency, so we were used to all the crazy issues that people would take with us."
And she says she knows what their critics intended to do.

No one cares how many times you claim or insinuate racism, Big Mike. It remains a fact that you’re not easy to look at.
Michelle has an interview special I think on ABC tomorrow night. The preview had her whining about all the critiques of her WH fashion. I have no idea why she is front and center right now and why she she keeps brin7ng this past sh*t up. Maybe they are starting Mid Terms 2026 and kicking it off with her and wins in NYC.
All I remember is the press fawning over her arms and fashion 🤮
Who is Michelle Obama?
I don't recall this...at all.
Probably someone obscure and she's making a huge deal out of it to create another victim narrative.
Right - how many magazine cover photos? Numerous.
>> Angry black lady with a huge ass.
...is there another kind?
I remember that one - someone combined it side by side with a photo of Laura Bush coming off of Air Force One (of course dressed more elegantly) with the caption “Change You Can See.”
Another one where they were walking together what was supposed to be a somber walk toward a memorial where she was talking on her cell phone.
One of my all time favorite Michelle My Bell stories is her only appearance at a Nascar race. It was one of the laaaaarge super speedways. Long before woke crap. Michelle was supporting something “for the children.” Before the start of the race, the announcer states that the “The First Lady of the United States is here, Michelle Obama.” The boos were huuuuge. The look on Michelle’s face was so memorable, as she looked, well...... not happy.
Gives me a warm feeling just thinking about it.
Jackie was a lady.
Jackie’s knuckles weren’t dragging the floor
Does she ever stop whining?

This was supposed to be a somber walk toward a
memorial where she was talking on her cell phone.
I lost count of how many magazine covers I turned around while in line at the grocery store
Sometimes there’d be 3 or 4 every week
Dual standard...Big Mike or Dr. Jill (dis)gracing the covers of fashion magazine that snubbed Melania.
At least, her trainers shaved all that long hair off the exposed-skin surfaces...
Remember in 2019 when Big Mike claimed that "White people are ‘still running’ from minority communities"? Then went and bought an estate on Martha's Vineyard which is inhabited by mostly white people. Who's afraid of black communities Big Mike?
Michelle Obozo excels at being classless and ugly, ‘nuff said.
 🦍🦍🦍🤣🤣🤣
Exactly.
