Tell me about it. I went from “an 8-12 lb turkey is just too much” to getting a 10 lb leg. Use up leftovers? Heat and eat.

Extenuating circumstances however made a short trip into a long one so once I got to the grocery store, I wasn’t leaving without a leg. Even had to hail the meat dept guy to ask if they had them because there were none in the display case. He went up front and grabbed a box of them that has showed up an hour earlier and started yanking out these huge legs. Still, I wasn’t leaving without a leg.

They were priced at $6.99 but he knocked a buck off because “I’m never gonna move these”. Yeah, 10 lbs at $5-6/lb is $50-60 compared to a $15-20 turkey.

Little tricky to carve cross-grain but OMG, tender and yummy.

Single bone - easy to separate meat and put into containers, some to be frozen. I’ve got foil I used to cover the leg as it rested. I can wrap that bone in it and freeze it as well until I figure out what to do with it. A hack saw style bone saw is pretty cheap. Lamb/Mutton stock.

I’ll be looking at these meat goats in a new way.

Time for another helping.
