A Texas mom is accused of packing up her entire apartment while her child was at school, and moving out without telling him.
Erica Renee Sanders has been charged with felony child endangerment after allegedly moving out of the Copperas Cove apartment where she and her 12-year-old son were staying while he was at school — without informing him, according to a complaint obtained by PEOPLE. Local outlet KWTX was first to report the news.
The middle schooler’s principal alerted officers with the Copperas Cove Police Department to the situation around 5:18 p.m. local time on Friday, Oct. 17, after the 12-year-old, upon exiting the school bus to go home, saw that “his family packed up and moved and left him there,” according to the complaint.
The “furniture and other household items” that had been in the apartment when the young boy left for school that Friday morning were gone, according to a responding officer’s account of the events. The officer, who described the unit as “empty” and “completely barren,” said the boy confirmed that “the apartment was not like that when he left.”

This happened to a friend when I was in Jr. High
He came home after school and was on his porch crying
His parents moved to another house and didn’t tell him
How do the parents honestly think they can abandon their child? The legal system always catches you.
What is it in that culture that makes it so?
Impressive logic...........

It has to be the worst, soul-scarring betrayal. It will screw that poor kid up mentally and emotionally for the rest of their life. Unless... it is actually the kid that is ‘that bad’ (a bad seed) and the family is stupidly trying to get away from the evil. I have to wonder which it is. I guess the world will find out... eventually.
According to the Bell Curve, low IQ is also a part of the massive failure of BLACK culture.
We need to pass tire iron legislation. Some crimes are worthy of being beaten with a tire iron by the public.
That’s sad.
We’d adopt him, but we’re kinda full.
HA! My tagline is what is is for a reason....
A truly terrible thing to do to a child.
If she could move that fast, why not send the kid to grandma’s house for the weekend? Then he could just return to grandma’s house, police need not be involved.
Stupid people.
I have a crazy female in law that this brings to mind. This is the same sort of “logical thinking” that she usually exhibits.
A conversation with her will make you wonder if the punch was spiked with acid.
So, am I reading this correctly? It sounds like there are a lot of issues with the boy. The boyfriend won’t allow him in his house and the Unc says there were problems with him too. We see 10 year-olds out robbing folks, maybe this kid is one of those types? No excuse for what his mama did, please don’t get me wrong, but there could be more to this story.
Is that his Mom, the lady with the bright blue rayon yarn braided into her hair?
They still shouldn't tell him!
I was at lunch in the cafeteria many years ago with a bunch of coworkers, and one of them told us the story of how that had happened to him accidentally when he was a child. Apparently he was about grade school age, and had a very large family, and there was some mix up as to who was to pick him up at school, so he walked home to find the house empty. His family fairly quickly realized the problem and collected him, but there was definitely some trauma.
Shortly after he told us the story, he got up to go back to the counter to pick something up. Someone(?) with a devious sense of humor came up with an idea, and we all moved to another table just far enough away that it took him a minute to find us. We all (including him) got a good laugh that day.
