ICE are far more economical than EV.
You are assuming the oversized golf cart can make it a whole lap without overheating.
Yep it all comes down to the energy density of batteries. Incandescent bulbs were king for over 100 years and then LEDs dethroned them when the tech got good enough (and cheap enough).
You have a point.
Any observation of expensive “sports” cars will reveal most are driven by older men in a rather sedate manner.
Either from lack of vigor or traffic, most are driven like a Priaps.
Might as well be in a golf cart.

Add a steam turbine. When the EV battery ingites, it will power that turbine.

You are correct. To a degree. I’ll race your EV in my 10 year old minivan. From one end of Texas to the other.
Insurance companies will end the performance advantes of EV’s. Sooner that most people think. The first time a 21 year old girl hits an underground garage wall at 75 mph that will be the end.
Or, the NEXT time an apartment building under ground garage EV file destroys 200 cars and renders 150 families homeless.
Or, someone notices that the end of battery or software life cycle makes the EV a 3000 pound hazardous waste problem.
Its just a matter of time.
I think a re-invention of clean diesel powering 1200-1500 pound vehicles at 65-80 mpg and 70 mph will make it impossible for EV’s of any storage technology to compete without fake carbon scare coercion.

so, who is lying?
a building that large would be required to have a fire suppression system in it by any code book in the US. I forget the exact number but something like 95% of fires in a sprinkled building are extinguished with 1 or 2 heads. All that to say they had to have something in there to get real big real fast. I’m going with a bunch of EV batteries cooking off.

Some of the first cars around 1900 were electric. They have been waiting on the battery technology to change for a loooooong time. It is still not there.
If you have several vehicles (EVs) parked near each other and one cooks off, I can see how it would spread from one to the next fairly quickly. A typical sprinkler system would be useless.
Real flames on the sides makes it look cool!
You'll likely never even see an EV running in in the Daytona 500. We'll see in a couple of years if it even makes it through as a pace car. 200+ mph would take a lot of electrons.
I found myself wondering the other day if every China-made lithium ion battery (in vehicles, laptops, etc.) in the US might be silently listening for some signal telling it to explode into flames.
There is a funny scene in the movie Ford vs. Ferrari where then-auto mechanic Ken Miles (Christian Bale) tells a customer that there’s nothing wrong with his sports car—except that the driver won’t drive it in the manner it was built to be driven. The customer safely drives it in low gears and never takes it to the highway or rural routes where he can shift it into high gear and see what it can do.
Old British cars need to be revved. An old de-carbonising method was to get out on the road and get up to about 50 mph and drop back into 2nd gear, spinning up the revs and blowing out the cobwebs.
Ken Miles was just telling the guy to shift at higher rpms so the engine wouldn’t load up.

In the service we had to be trained on driving 2 1/2 ton truck for our MOS.
We had one guy that had some sort of dyslexia or similar. Would not shift the truck.
Left it on one gear and that was it. Drove us up the wall he would not shift.
