There is no F.D.A.-approved testosterone product for women. Insurance won’t cover it. Many doctors won’t prescribe it. It’s become a cultural phenomenon.
Spend enough time speaking to women who are taking testosterone — specifically, in very high doses — and you start to notice that they sound messianic. They’re often talking fast and intensely; they’re amped up; they’re describing what they clearly consider a miracle drug; and they have no intention of lowering their dose, despite the unknown risks or some problems with facial hair. After all, how can they worry about facial hair when they feel so alive? It’s nothing they can’t take care of with a quick waxing, which they now have the energy to do at the end of the day — right after they prepare a high-protein dinner for their family and before they put the finishing touches on their spreadsheets, close their laptops and light a few mood candles for the sex that they know will be great, maybe even better than the sex they had last night, even though they’re a day older.
“It’s changed my marriage,” Jessica Medina, a 41-year-old marketing consultant in Orange County, Calif., told me. With four kids in the house, and sex happening six times a week (up from “How about never?” pre-testosterone), she had to put a lock on the bedroom door. When I was in my mid 50s my doctor prescribed a testosterone gel. It really perked me up. I felt like I was 18 again. Unfortunately shortly thereafter reports of T users dying from heart attacks and blood clots appeared. My insurance carrier dropped coverage.

I was on a little bit of T and I wanted to seriously fight. Like jump someone and flail the hell out of them for simply pulling out in front of me or not using their blinker - I am talking cage matches. AND all I thought about was sex. Sex sex sex sex sex sex sex. The things I wanted to do...... anywhere and everywhere. I was engulfed with those thoughts.
I felt bad for men. It was so powerful and to have to deal with that hormone and control it with all of those strong caveman urges starting when y’all are teens - I truly appreciate all of y’all.
Yeah, I had my doctor take me off of it.

There’s nothing wrong with a man being a man and a woman being a woman. It’s very natural and is a wonderful thing to normal people.
There’s a not needed drug for everything in America... Sad
I’ve lived with it all my life, though I don’t think they found actual cysts on my ovaries, blood work came up as hyperandrogenism. Periods were always normal and no infertility thankfully, but I’ve had to shave places I should not have to shave for decades and it didn’t go away with menopause, yet I have no desire for intimacy anymore. 🫤 What’s the solution? Don’t want to take hormones ugh.
So low dose T doesn’t produce the unwanted side effects? What kind of Dr would a post menopausal woman go see for this?
There are more than you know who suffer with it. Ones who are feminine in every other way as well. You’d just never know it unless married to them. They just go to great lengths to keep it hidden, all the whole taking lifelong hits on their self esteem.

Since I'm in my 80's, I've cut back physically but mentally it's still there.

This was a awhile ago but I paid $30 per prescription with insurance and balked at $300 without insurance. FYI: The herbal T suppliments didn’t work for me.
It was done by the NIH and headed by the Univ of Chicago
I suspect this is why we're seeing violence from "trans" men. Girls on T don't have the years of social training about what is expected of them. They have years of permissiveness combined with sudden violent impulses. It's a recipe for disaster.
