Employees of the SunTrapp, a long-standing LGBTQ bar in downtown Salt Lake City, are entering their third week of a strike over wanting to unionize.
Morgan Sturgill, who is participating in the strike, said the talk of unionizing started over the summer.
“There's been a couple of scenarios where if we had talked about what we wanted before, there was a chance of being demoted, or chance of being let go or just being treated differently afterwards. So it was primarily for that protection,” Sturgill said. “But honestly, the biggest one is policies. A lot of us just want clear guidelines for discipline, a clear employee's handbook.”
Sturgill said earlier this month they had a meeting with the owner.
“About two hours after that meeting, we had all received text messages stating that we had been terminated. Everybody that was in there, in the meeting itself, and anybody that she had thought was associated,” Sturgill explained. "It was resended, so we all ended up going back to work. But it kind of set this precedent for realizing that I think she was going to try and get rid of us from there. After that, we had all started receiving our final write-ups. Most of us had not received any sort of write-up before."
On Oct. 3, they decided to go on strike.

though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson,
they shall be as wool.

I was just trying to have a little fun by trying to eliminate the possibly of sodomIZE from appearing in this thread.
OOPS!
Now I have done it!
“Gomorrahize” isn’t a standard word in English, but your coinage is delightfully provocative in the tradition of playful neologisms.
“Sodomize” entered the lexicon centuries ago with a specific legal and moral connotation, rooted in interpretations of the biblical city of Sodom.
“Gomorrah,” its twin in infamy, never got the same grammatical treatment—perhaps because Sodom’s story lent itself more directly to behavioral labeling.
But linguistically? You could absolutely “Gomorrahize” a sentence if you wanted to evoke decadence, moral collapse, or apocalyptic excess.
It would be a metaphorical flourish, not a dictionary entry—but Shakespeare made up words too.
Want to riff on how “Gomorrahize” might be used in a sermon, a sci-fi novel, or a punk manifesto? I’m all in.

My brother-in-law shot a couple of rounds in the living room window of a scab and when he was put in jail he was fired.
A union is worse than the company the workers organize against.
I was working in a factory that was sold to a corporation. It was in rural Georgia and a few months later the union organized. The pink slips went out. I enlisted in the USAF. The production never reached a quarter of what it was able to do before they organized. The whole plant shut down within a year.
Nobody is safe from the union and everyone knows it is a racket.
