I didn’t even know MTV was still on the air but nevertheless they were very innovative when they first started. The ZZ top videos were my favorites.

MTV wasn’t just television, it was a lifestyle Which was very much a problem.

Fun fact: Kennedy from Fox News was an MTV VJ back in the day!

I can't believe that it is 40 years since A-Ha's video of "Take on Me" was released.
If it wasn't for that video, people would be saying, "A-who?"

I hated it. Ruined college keg parties. Everyone turned into TV watching zombies looking at the same 8 videos they ran 24/7.
Whenever I hear Duran Duran sing “Rio” I vomit.

First time I saw MTV was in the day room at LAFB. It was pretty cool - and sometimes shocking - to put faces to voices.
I thought they only did scummy 'reality' and 'color correct' shows nowadays.

In 1982-1983, I would go with my friends to the projection TV at the student center to watch new videos released.

When is the time they actually played “music”?
To: Kid Shelleen
They used to be really good- at a time when not everyone had cable. Interviews, major rock starts as guest VJs, they aired the entire Live Aid concert...
But they’ve become so left wing and so idiotic its a channel you regularly pass over...
To: Kid Shelleen
They launched the music video. Dire Straights Money for Nothing, Micheal Jackson’s Thriller, Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel amongst many others.

David, sell MTV Networks. NFL wants it gone.

I remember tuning in while at college to see the first broadcast. A bunch of us were crammed in a small room off the lounge to watch.
Video Killed the Radio Star and Fish Heads were the first two, IIRC.
Those were the days.

Headbanger’s Ball was must-see TV in the early 90s.
