Seven things were created before the creation of the world. They are: the Torah, Repentance, Paradise, Gehenna, the Throne of Glory, the heavenly Temple, and the name of the Messiah. The Messiah's name was engraved on a precious stone on the altar of the heavenly Temple, as it is said. His name existed before the sun (Psa. 72:17).

Prehistory is vast and the world wide. It is quite possible that different crafts and technologies were used by different peoples at different times; there is no good reason to suppose that the archaic Australians of 40,000 BC would necessarily have boated like the Iberians of 25,000 BC. Technologies may have been invented, and flourished, for hundreds or even thousands of years before being lost and entirely forgotten—or, the Stone Age world may simply have been a more primitive, unchanging one in this regard, restricted to only the most basic of seacrafts.
No mention of stick charts:
The charts, unlike traditional maps, were studied and memorized prior to a voyage and were not consulted during a trip, as compared to traditional navigation techniques where consultation of a map is frequent and points and courses are plotted out both before and during navigation.
Marshallese navigators used their senses and memory to guide them on voyages by crouching down or lying prone in the canoe to feel how the canoe was being pitched and rolled by underlying swells.
