Thursday on ABC’s “The View,” Sunny Hostin told her co-hosts that Christians who own guns and are pro-life are hypocrites during a panel discussion on Pope Leo XIV’s recent comments.
Pope Leo said, “Someone who says, I’m against abortion, but says I’m in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life. Someone who says that I’m against abortion, but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants who are in the United States, I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”
Hostin said, “Well, I think that’s right. I mean, I’ve said it on this show many times, I am at least, and you and I have had this discussion, I am at least consistent as a Catholic, a lifelong Catholic, I am against abortion. I’m also against the death penalty. I’m also against guns. I’m also against the starvation of children. I’m a humanitarian above all, because I believe that all life is precious.”

I have mentioned this elsewhere. Based on its size, Vatican City can easily take in 2500 immigrants. And the Vatican has plenty of money to house, clothe, and feed them all.

The fact that they were told to buy a sword instead of a spear or bow is important. Spears and bows were hunting weapons. Swords were for self defense against other humans.
It is quite telling that someone like Sonny Hostin equates the taking of the life of an innocent, unborn child with the execution of lawful capital punishment (or via the mechanism of self-defense by a lawful citizen) resulting in the loss of life of a vile, violent, criminal felon who has committed a capital offense by brutally murdering an innocent human being.
This is a vivid display of Leftist “rationality”.
I have heard people describe Sonny Hostin as “intelligent”. Not seeing it here.

“Pro-sovereignty of God” is too much of a mouthful, but it more accurately reflects how most Christians think on the subject of life. The issue is not the mindless maximalization of life but rather respecting God’s moral statutes regarding the creation of life and its protection and the upholding of justice.
As if she’s not surrounded by armed security thicker than Joy Behar’s makeup.
