I had recently been thinking (instead of sleeping at night) that the perception of sealed indictments would be more correct if we equated them with the marks on the fuselage of a WWI/WW2 flying ace to note the number of enemy aircraft he downed.When we first heard about the indictments I was amazed and very pleased. As the numbers of sealed indictments grew, I became a little puzzled. And by the time we received a recent sealed indictment count, it was hard to regain any enthusiasm. I didn't know why but it began to concern me. like something is wrong there...
Now I know what's 'wrong with '500,000 sealed indictments." With more than one person per indictment likely? Just how many decades of grand jury, trial, appeals etc. would it take to prosecute approx 1 million+ cases? Why would anyone wait to prosecute until the caseload was 1 million or more.
I believe the sheer number of current sealed indictments proves those are completed cases. *imagining another chess piece painted on the fuselage of an aircraft* Those indictments mark successes.
The pieces continue to fall into place. Sessions didn't fail - he set up the trials, hired Huber etc. Huber left the gov on Feb 2021, I think the bulk of his cases were under control by then, and the system he set up was ready to assume the remaining burden, which is still substantial.
