Florida A&M band announcer slammed for commenting on weight of Alabama State dancers

The president of Florida A&M University on Saturday said the historically Black college ("HBCU") was taking “immediate steps to ensure accountability” after its band announcer commented on the weight of Alabama State University’s Honey Beez dancers.

During half-time of the game between the two schools, Florida A&M band announcer Joe Bullard called the dance team that performs with Alabama State’s Mighty Marching Hornets as “the new face of Ozempic,” HBCU Gameday reported.

Dr. Quinton Ross, the president of Alabama State University, called the remark “distasteful” and “short-sighted.”

“To have their artistry disrespected after such a performance is absolutely unacceptable,” Ross wrote.

“Honey Beez, please know that you are celebrated, valued, and admired for the joy that you bring to the Hornet Nation, and also for the bold and fearless way you represent the very best of ASU,” Ross wrote.

FAMU president Marva B. Johnson apologized for the remark in a statement.

“The Honey Beez represent discipline, school pride and their performance tradition is respected across the nation,” Johnson wrote.

“Such comments are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” she said of the band announcer’s remark.

Same as a hippopotamus can run 30mph in short bursts, some of those big bone girls (cheerleaders) can be quite agile. So stop denigrating n start relating.

hippopotamus can run 30mph in short bursts
Hippos can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour (48 kilometers per hour) in short bursts, which is faster than most humans can run. This speed is a testament to their agility and power, especially when they need to defend their territory or escape from danger. While hippos are not built for endurance running, their ability to sprint at such high speeds makes them formidable in the wild.

We should not have race-based institutions funded by government.

Are HBCUs government funded?

well, um, okay.....

They can waggle their arms and shake their cooters.

It’s not very attractive or nice to look at. Lots of blubber flubbering.

But it has made me rethink cheeseburgers and fries for dinner. I guess that’s something.

Well I adopted a baby who was big like that as an adult. As a matter of fact she was 33 lbs at 7 mo.

Mass Gen worked her up. It is genetics, not amount of food. They actually showed us the gene that was the culprit. They said it was broken, however I think that 34 years ago what looked broken is actually a normal among certain people.

They missed the line “ That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist”.

He wasn’t talking fat. He was talking solid glute development.

Way back in the stone ages when I was in band, the sousaphone players were fat and the dancers were skinny.

Watching that video it is bass ackwards.

Uhhh... Yes, they can dance, I guess you could say. But why aren’t they smiling? Aren’t dancers always taught to smile, unless they’re performing a sad or somber dance? They don’t look like they’re having any fun. I don’t know how they stay so fat, unless they never practice. Maybe they don’t have to, if they perform the same routine all the time. But then, black girls have been taught to love their bodies, no matter how big they are. I guess that’s psychologically healthy, just not physically healthy. As a nurse I used to work with (who was a “big girl”, as we say in Oklahoma, and maintained a very tanned body) said, “ Brown fat looks better than white fat”. She had a point.
