Has anyone heard of the Amish rebuilding effort in hurricane-ravaged North Carolina?
The report now, from citizen-photojournalist Matt Van Swol is that they have completed the last tiny home for the thousands of victims in the western part of the state, whose entire homes were destroyed or washed away in the ravages of Hurricane Helene last year.
🚨#BREAKING: The Amish have confirmed they have completed their very last tiny home for Western North Carolina victims of Hurricane Helene.
This final tiny home is being delivered today to David Hostetter, a Vietnam veteran who lost his home in the storm.

He also made this video on their great act of charity last July:
For months, the Amish have quietly rebuilt Western North Carolina— they're STILL HERE, volunteering since November of last year.
It's an epic, rarely told story.
This video of them singing a-cappella hymns after building tiny homes is so beautiful...

What an exquisite act of charity, the work of their own hands and talents, working together, giving of themselves, putting themselves last, to help restore housing for their fellow Americans -- and doing it for months and months, with no recognition. The tiny homes are a marvelously practical solution that residents can live in and expand and upgrade as they rebuild their lives and communities, a sight better than FEMA trailers as well. Unlike the government, which threw roadblock after roadblock to reconstruction (although North Carolina was not as bad as California), the Amish just quietly got the job done, in record time, and in a way that should be studied by all first responders.
It was a great achievement, done out of love for their fellow Americans.

FEMA was a disaster of it’s own.
I have the utmost respect for the Amish. Compare them (who actually practice their religion) to ...say...Episcopals, who practice something distantly resembling...something.

I don’t think so. They quietly do their own thing and keep to themselves. We need to leave them alone and be thankful they don’t look at the world like the muslims do.
Thanks for sharing. Their Christian acts of charity set a good example to us all! God bless them.
Last of how many? Terrible reporting
There are 3 Amish communities in our county. One has a dinner every year well attended. All donations are for the local fire department. I think they raise about 20K each year in donations and auctions of food and quilts. They had one recently for our Shriners and donated homemade goods. We raised about 2K in our auction. They are very friendly people.
My son does electrical work and he went down to WNC to help rebuild houses. The project was sponsored through the Baptist churches.
They are living out the teachings of the Bible here on several fronts and I seriously doubt they want any praise.
Kinda defeats the point of being Amish, doesn't it?
“...I don’t think so. They quietly do their own thing and keep to themselves. We need to leave them alone and be thankful they don’t look at the world like the muslims do...”
Fully agree.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for those people.
IMHO, most of America could probably take a lesson or two from em and be better off for it.
They don’t seek accolades from man, but seek the blessings bestowed from God. May the Lord continue to bless em....and a BIG Thank You for the assistance they’ve provided.
True, but we should give credit where it is due, as an example to those who aren’t likewise committed.

We can say prayers of thanks for all they have done for their fellow Americans in need.
God bless them.
Send prayers of thanks. May they multiply and remain healthy.

They built a barn to replace the original. It’s awesome.
Great work from great individuals.
A way to repay them is fighting for and backing them because the Government like Biden’s was in DC, State and local RATs have been harrassing them and trying to shut down their farming and sale of homegrown meats and foods unless they surrender to government control.
