Psychologists and their ilk have taken over US schools. They are more interested in creating a culture of groomed young candidates for pedophilia than teaching important skills.

Cheaper, and they have zero attachment to any traditional American values. They come from top-down societies, so no freedom of speech, no gun ownership... no individual over the collective... take the shot, wear the mask etc.
And they work like slaves and do not expect anything like the middle class life of an American.

I have done math tutoring off and on for many years. I believe that it’s my opportunity to give back to the wonderful country that I was born in. What really amazes me is that schools don’t really teach math anymore. I have taught kids who are in middle level classes just the basics to get them going.

“Elon Musk wants H-1B visas because he says America needs more tech workers. The real reason for these visas is our schools aren’t teaching math well enough.”

Bullcrap... this doesn’t explain why highly skilled American tech workers are fired and replaced by H1Bs, after forcing them to train their replacements under pain of no severance package.

He’s a liar. They were getting tax credits for hiring H1Bs. He can also pay them less. The whole thing is a scam. My experience has been that Indians are liars too and fluff up their resumes. 1 out of every 100 Indians I run into cannot think himself out of a wet paper bag. They are stuck in the rlonear mode of thinking. The only thing they are good at is telling you they can accomplish anything you give them. Everything is easy. Yet when it comes time to show a final work product it is severely lacking

By law, H-1B visas go to foreigners who do specialized jobs, mostly in tech.

And those people are imported by foreign run temp companies and they have trouble adding two plus two and have fake degrees but they make the "de verse" hiring look good.

Way cheaper, very easy to control and abuse.

My wife and I live in an area that is a dumping ground for illegal foreign invaders. As of 2023 47% of people lived in homes where English is not spoken. It is likely well above 50% now. Our local school system has students who speak 130 different languages. They spend a huge amount of money on paid translators. Bright kids are basically completely ignored. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic have taken a back seat to politically correct nonsense. Parents have had to send their kids to private schools for them to actually receive an education.

This was formerly a very conservative part of the county which wanted to secede from the Western portion of the county. Democrats solved this issue by flooding us with illegal immigrants and registering them to vote at the same time they handed out fraudulent driver’s licenses where the “translators” picked the correct answers for their clients and driving examiners passed people without an actual test for a few $hundred.

Our schools now charge over $20,000 a year for each student who is signed up to attend.

Largely nonsense: the big tech companies (and trading shops) do need some top talent because they are some of the few places that need people to find innovative solutions that require a good knowledge of CS algorithms and some math.

Everywhere else coding is a craft bound by the constraints of legacy code and a set of libraries created by far more knowledgeable people than most developers and limited by existing business investment in a given tech.

It's these positions that have been eaten alive by H1-B abuse and Indian discrimination against Americans.

This poor education has been going on since the 60’s.
If I hadn’t taken the initiative to learn as much science as possible, I NEVER would have gotten where I am now.
HS was almost pointless.

One not need to read the article. I will some it up in three words. “They are cheaper.”

We recently had a storm in central Texas about a year ago. This is normal in Texas. I had many trees down. I had bids of several thousand dollars to 1000 dollars to clean it up and put it on my burn pile.

Who in the hell do you think I selected?

This makes little sense...computer programmers don’t need to know much math, quite frankly.

I wasn’t allowed to teach math at all by the end. I was told it would hurt their wittle feewings if I corrected their errors.

It is a Catch 22.
The cheap imports are decreasing wages and job openings.
So why study hard subjects if you are for nothing, but punishment?
So there are not that many US graduates, so more imports are needed, which then decrease the US students desirability of these subjects.

The only solution is to cut the knot!
Just stop or highly reduce H1B for some time, until real shortages develop and US kids notice that these subjects are really good to study!

I think, the $100,000 is good start! If some company really needs somebody, they will gladly pay.
If not, that person is obviously not that needed!

Fix the education system instead of hiring foreign workers.

Use Saxon Math for one thing and get away from Common Core crap.

Sorry, but this excuse just doesn’t fly!

Ther are plenty of American tech workers sitting on the side-lines because the H1-Bs work for less and the majority of tech contracting agencies are run by Indians (re: racism).

Nice try on pretending there is actually a problem to be solved using H1—Bs though!

H1-Bs are a scam!

the recruiters are indian.

they control who is submitted to what jobs.

many Americans never even see most positions before they’re already awarded an indian.
