Ah ha, now I realize that that's the emphasized word in the 1935 drinking song: "In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus, ein, zwei, ZHOUPA!". They're drinking big gulps of SOUP, not beer!

I’m truly not sure what language it was - I saw it on the menu of a diner when I was looking for a name for the song. My guess would be Eastern European, given that the main ingredients were cabbage and bacon.
