Donald Trump's Air Force One flight to London got dangerously close to another plane while travelling in the skies of New York, it has been reported. The US President's Air Force One and Spirit Flight 1300, an Airbus A321 flying from Fort Lauderdale to Boston, were approaching Long Island when an air traffic controller observed their altitudes were close.
He also noticed that their flight paths were converging and attempted to warn the pilots of the Spirit flight to adjust their course. The encounter was first posted first by the @JonNYC account on the Bluesky media app. The unverified audio was shared by @thenewarea51 on X.
"Pay attention, Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees right,โ the controller said after the airline crew ignored his initial message. "Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees RIGHT NOW."
Raising his voice again, the controller commanded: "Spirit Wings 1300 turn 20 degrees RIGHT. IMMEDIATELY."
Finally the Spirit pilots acknowledged the routing change.
"Spirit 1300, traffic's off your left wing by 6 miles, or 8 miles. 747. I'm sure you can see who it is,โ the controller said, referring to the blue Air Force One aircraft. "Iโll keep an eye out for him, he's white and blue."
And the New York controller gave one final warning to the Spirit crew: "Pay attention! Get off the iPad!"
Or Muslim?
When I was flying every week (passenger) we regularly (clear weather) would land two-by-two at STL from the East
There was often an aircraft parallel with us (not saying that was this situation of course)
AI Overview
STL History - St. Louis Lambert
International Airport
The two parallel East-West runways (11/29 and 12L/30R) at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) are 1,300 feet apart
I had put that in there at first ๐
11 miles is a "near miss"? Really?
Dood was on his phone checking out Amazon specials. Who isnโt?
><
It is against the law to operate a cell phone that isn’t hands free, on the highways in my state. I could get a ticket for that.
Guess there are no state troopers in that big highway in the sky.
I don’t know what the protocol is for the airspace around AF-1, so I don’t know if 11 miles would classify as a close call.
But the UK enemediot outlet sourced Bluesky and some dude on X.
And if they did may any attempt to verify any of what they were reporting, they sure didn’t include that info, did they?
The UK has a Deep State, too. And enemedia that serves its Deep State.
People forget that at their peril.
For anyone interested, the POTUS and FLOTUS are on their way to Windsor.
Can’t find any non-enemedia live streaming.
So try the usual suspects for coverage.
Then make judicious use of the bloody mute button.
I think those were Beefeaters playing Sousa...
Nice touch.
the closest the two jets came on converging paths was around 11 miles....โ
11 miles is a “near miss”? Really?
><
For two planes converging ad 400 Knots each, or 800 Knots total, 11 miles is less than 1 minute until they are on top of each other.
Yeah. It wasnโt Air Force One that almost hit another jet. It was the Spirit jet that almost hit Trump.
Spirit recently filed bankruptcy (second time in less than a year). Disgruntled employee looking to make the news?
"Pay attention, Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees right,โ the controller said after the airline crew ignored his initial message. "Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees RIGHT NOW."Raising his voice again, the controller commanded: "Spirit Wings 1300 turn 20 degrees RIGHT. IMMEDIATELY."
1300:
ืืณืฉืณ
ืืฉ, fire.
That doesn’t meet the FAA’s definition for a loss of separation.
If the rules are different for AF-1, though, that is another matter.
But if both aircraft are doing around 500 miles per hour, they can close that 11 miles in about 90 seconds.
(Did I do that math right?)
POTUS and FLOTUS have arrived in Windsor and look terrific.
Note to the House of Windsor: Very nicely done.
Folks, find a livestream if you can...
This is awesome.
OK. I understand. The distance wasn’t necessarily dangerous, but the potential flight path was. Thank you.
We don’t know either was the case.
I’ll say this for the UK: They do pageantry better than anyone.
And those aren’t Beefeaters. King’s Guard, Household Division...?
Given the airline and clientele, pilot was twerking in the aisle with the passengers?
I would think that in todayโs politically charged climate, AF1 should always have a fighter escort.
