To me, it is abundantly clear that if the shot did not come from the older guy who was initially dragged off, then it was a scoped rifle shooting from a much longer distance. Frankly, it is much more logical and practical to do that, as the distance involved would give the shooter at least a somewhat better chance of escaping. I would also hazard a guess that if a scoped rifle was used to assassinate him, the odds of a conspiracy go up manyfold.
My bet is the guy they apprehended was playing decoy to give the perp time to slip away.
The only thing out of his mouth was “I have the right to remain silent.”

The hypersonic crack sound of a shot was clear on video posted from in front and a little to Charlie’s right that showed him being hit and slumping to the ground. I don’t know how actually close that video was or what it means as to how close the assassin actually was to Charlie when he fired. Didn’t seem to have a suppressor on it as the report was still loud.
Because scoped rifles are so very rare and difficult to obtain?
