It does make no sense that only one little blue planet out of BILLIONS and BILLIONS would develop intelligent life.
Why bother making all the others at all?

“When asked by a reporter whether she believes in a “higher intelligence looking upon us,” Stone gave a surprising take on the matter.” I’m not going to get all religion on anyone, but that ‘higher intelligence’ might be the Creator. He made a lot of things.

When will we discover intelligence on this planet?
It won't be long until the crows pass us up.
To: nickcarraway
This is what the DOD and the military industrial complex have been waiting for. They needed Emma Stone's testimony to give them the courage to disclose the truth.
This is a really big deal.
As an aside, I think cats can prevent alien abduction. I've got cats and I haven't been abducted. At least not recently;-).

Putting religious beliefs aside, this is something that astrophysicist Frank Drake once tackled. If you don’t mind a bit of math, here’s the Drake equation:

That is Fermi’s Paradox. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars and no signs of any intelligent life revolving around any of them. This along with the fine tuning arguments, and the strange nature of quantum physics have caused many astrophysicists to come to a belief in a deistic creator or a simulated universe.

I don't see the need for the 'or'.
