ALL college students should be chosen by merit, not DEI. An incompetent lab tech can be just as dangerous as an incompetent doctor.
Who needs DEI whe you have this action.
It is impossible to know the exact number of unlicensed doctors found in Los Angeles because no single agency tracks all cases. Cases are investigated and prosecuted by multiple agencies and on an ongoing basis. However, several specific instances and investigations conducted over the years provide insight into the problem.
Recent investigations and cases
August 2024: The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced charges against a man for practicing medicine without a certification. He was accused of performing unlicensed cosmetic surgery and treating the patient for complications that followed.
April 2023: A Los Angeles man who operated Pathways Medical in North Hollywood was charged with five felony counts for practicing medicine without a license. Prosecutors stated he had seen “thousands” of people, including cancer patients.
May 2025: A “fake doctor” who had previously been arrested in Orange County was arrested again for treating patients just days after his previous arrest.
February 2024: An unlicensed doctor was found trying to restart an illegal practice in Orange County shortly after being released from prison.
September 2019: A federal enforcement action resulted in charges against 25 Southern California defendants for healthcare fraud schemes, 14 of whom were described as doctors or medical professionals.
Specific investigations from earlier years
Early 2000s: The Medical Board of California’s Operation Safe Medicine (OSM) focused on unlicensed practitioners in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Over portions of 2001, 2002, and 2003, investigators caught 146 unlicensed practitioners and referred them for prosecution.
Why an exact number is not available
Multiple enforcement agencies: The investigation and prosecution of unlicensed medical practitioners involve local and federal agencies, including the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, the Medical Board of California, and the U.S. Department of Justice. There is no central, publicly available database tracking all cases.
Varied crimes: Practicing medicine without a license is a “wobbler” offense in California and can be prosecuted as either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the specifics of the case.
Lack of official tracking: While individual cases are reported in the news, there is no official record that aggregates the number of unlicensed practitioners found and prosecuted in Los Angeles. The Medical Board of California’s website provides information on how to file a complaint, but not a running tally of offenders.
Uh, yeah!
And, as a reminder, the folks that finish at the bottom of the class are still DR. Soandso.
Got a master’s degree in Leadership & Coaching and my professor was working with one of the leading neonatologist in the country to work towards a merit based enrollment at a major private university. Seems he had better grades and a legacy student with a doctor for a daddy got the nod instead of him. Cost him a year of his education, more $$ etc. but he did get in. He was also focused on working with doctors so they understand that they work with nurses, anesthesiologist etc. as part of a team and not the little tin horn dictators some seem to think they are.
My wife’s ONGYN was a command and control doctor and when she was delivering our daughter, I knew whose show it was. A nurse had neglected to fill her order of more goo goo juice for my wife’s epidural and it hadn’t been filled, I know someone got an earful.
i don’t want to be freaked out wondering if my doctor getting ready to carve on me is DEI or not.
Many places still have DEI policies, it’s just been renamed BELONGING.
As long as DEI doctors and dentists are only allowed to practice in blue cities then carry on.😎
