I am thinking someone reworked GW’s words from his farewell address following his decision not to seek a 3rd term:

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to
political prosperity, religion and morality are
indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim
the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert
these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest
props of the duties of men and citizens.

Thank you. Either someone punked the quote, or perhaps he made similar statemens. He was very literate, wrote very beautifully, and of great wisdom.
