Taking their cues from modern warfare, the far-right American terrorist movement sees off-the-shelf or home-built first-person viewer (FPV) drones as a critical weapon in their own future war against the US government, which has American authorities on edge.
And there’s ample reasons for those fears: in the open and closed online spaces where far-right extremists congregate, talk is commonplace of how these cheap drones are revolutionizing current wars and will be the critical tools of a so-called second civil war.
“The use of FPV drones in the war between Russia and Ukraine, the use of drones by terrorist groups such as Isis, and the use of drones by violent criminal groups, such as drug cartels, give examples that domestic extremists may seek to emulate or learn from,” said Joshua Fisher-Birch, a professional analyst who has tracked far-right extremists of every ilk, for close to a decade.
“Groups or individuals could potentially use commercial or home-made drones for reconnaissance purposes or in an offensive capacity.”
Fisher-Birch gave the recent example of a neo-Nazi in Nashville who plotted to bomb a power station with a drone, but was foiled by police. According to Fisher-Birch, there is already extremist chatter observing how criminal groups use the drones as force multipliers against government forces.
“Pretty decent study on how [unmanned aerial systems] are being utilized by cartels, some good insights can be found here,” posted one popular neo-Nazi account on Telegram, attaching a military pamphlet discussing drone warfare to its followers. “If you want to know what a low-intensity conflict, insurgency, or whatever term we’re using this decade would look like, just look south.”

The only specific was the attempted drone attack on a power distribution substation. I followed the link to the DOJ archive article and read how the FBI infiltrated and foiled one man's dream of causing a mass power outage. Interestingly, the FBI undercover agents were the ones that supplied technical and logistical support to the defendant. The statement indicates that it took several FBI undercover agents to give one man all he needed to achieve his goal, and then descended on him at the last minute for the arrest.
Sounds alot like another Gretchen Whitmer episode to me.
Followed second by doctors.
WTH, Guardian?
I doubt they'll use bombs; it will be incendiaries. The "environmentalist" left has assured that many cities are surrounded with "green belts" of combustible vegetation with which to get that city burning. Firefighters are not equipped to stop such fires, as bringing in a bulldozer to flatten whole neighborhoods to stop the fire would not go over well as a plan.
What Bull crap!!! No other comment needed...
bttt
No such word as “far left”. Never seen or heard uttered that (?) word in any stories from my TV/radio/newsprint. How did you come up with it?
Yes. As our saviors outlaw fully semi-automatic hundred dollar assault drones.
Baloney
“Alarm as US far-right extremists eye drones for use in domestic attacks”
yep, i’m tooling up my fleet as we speak ...
A story like this just begs for trolling the Left. We should tell them that drones are old news and we’re moving on to x-ray lasers. Freakout in 3..2..1...
“The UK has a Deep State, too.
And a prolific enemedia.”
I think the enemedi needs a medienama.
1) If you mean make like a California fire? Only if it is tightly compact residential intermingled with forested area. 2) If you are talking about setting farmland on fire to get to large, downtown areas would be a wild pipe dream. While farmlands do have fires, lots of farmers are well aware of that could happen and do have protections for it. Assuming they all get enough effort to start something major, it would eventually end in the suburb area near major downtown cities. All this while places still have better management of these things than California so they are pretty delusional if they are going to get the same or worse affect in other states, even with organized effort
Not only do they have only one source, but neo-Nazi's are 100% left wing. (National SOCIALISTs, favoring totalitarian government controls over all areas of society just like other leftists, anti-Christian/Jewish just like other leftists, pro-gun control and abortion just like other leftists, believing in using the power of the state to advance personal visions and agendas just like other leftists, etc., etc.)
“”Translation: Far Left terrorists are going to use drones.””
And the antifa thugs have already been training and practicing with them.
Picture this. They manage to load the drones with an explosive device... such that, even “if” the drone is shot down by some method (EMP gun drone?)... the drone will explode upon crashing to the ground. Thus rendering the EMP gun drone defense as not viable in civilian areas... which is exactly where the drones will be targeting. But only rich, whitey and probably MAGA civilian areas, you understand. Never low-cost-housing or ghetto civilian areas.

It’s not hard to use AI to not only target humans on the move but use facial recognition to target a single human out of groups of humans and have the drone kamikaze into them. A few grams of boom takes off someone’s head. If you know what you are doing and how to get it to go boom you can get the binary ingredients at cabellas or dick’s sporting goods store.
This guy proves with video how easy it is to turn FPV drones into human seeking monsters.
That's not how the Tubbs fire went down, and I have the photographs to prove it.
2) If you are talking about setting farmland on fire to get to large, downtown areas would be a wild pipe dream.
Maybe you should try reading what I wrote more carefully.
“surrounded with “green belts” of combustible vegetation with which to get that city burning” what are you talking about then. It sounds like you are saying what I described.
OK, I’ll upload a couple of photos of what I’m talking about. These were upper-end suburban developments surrounded with forests that survived the fire. Once the first house started, the mandated construction materials induced a chain reaction fire. Literally, one block of houses I photographed had a fairway on one side and a wide street on the other. The whole thing burned because of the ferocity of the fire blowing through pines that survived it.
