A top chief executive has been accused of snatching a child tennis fan's hat at the US Open - with his firm now facing negative online reviews.

Viral video footage revealed the moments after Polish player Kamil Majchrzak went to the crowd after the biggest win of his career.

The 29-year-old defeated ninth seed Karen Khachanov in a marathon five-set thriller on Thursday - and then was filmed removing his cap and trying to hand it to a child in the crowd on Court 11.

But in ugly scenes, a man standing next to the boy reached out, grabbed the cap and stuffed it into his bag.

That left the youngster looking crestfallen and asking, 'What are you doing?' as Majchrzak walked away, unaware of what had just happened.

Now there has been a rising backlash against the hat grabber.

And there appeared online a lengthy statement in his defence, by someone purporting to be the businessman's lawyer.

Yet that was later deleted, with the legal official telling people he had been misrepresented.

From my interactions with Polish people they are some of the hardest working and smartest people I have ever met. I worked many years in New Britain Ct. at Stanley Works and Fafnir Bearing, Corbin Lock Co. all of which employed a majority of Polish immigrants. Love them!

That is true, and I knew that, or if that description holds true over the entire population. It was a while ago that I knew the few Polish people that I did know, are they still the same?

But that wasn't what her question posed. On that topic she posed, I do not know the Polish people well enough to even make a guess what they will or won't do regarding supporting his business, or shun him & his business for his actions.

So, do you have the answer or even a guess to that question? 😁👍

Communism made people dicks. If you grew up under Communism and then made big money in the transition to capitalism, you may have won out because you were a bigger dick than anyone else. This guy isn’t typical of his country or of any other country. He may be typical of the old East Bloc’s new rich.

You may be right. Since I have no basis to make any guess, I will take your word that what you say is accurate. For it works for me. 😁👍

I think those 2nd and 3rd generation from the original immigrants are less inclined to work hard but they are very family oriented and still a great asset to our country. Not very many gangsters and criminals from that culture, unlike people from the surrounding nations of Poland.Just my observation.

Adults should grow up and put away childish things. (which is something you find yourself doing quite a lot as a parent. Legos, books, clothes, shoes....)

Whenever adults start taking over children's hobbies two things happen, they get very dangerous and they get horribly expensive. So expensive that the children can no longer have fun with them. Take up grown up hobbies. Leave the children's games to children.

It used to be that if you caught a baseball at a game, you gave it to a kid. I’ve only gotten one at a College World Series game years ago, saw an 8 year old kid with his grandfather & gave it the boy. Grandpa made him come over to say thank you.
