According to a press release from the FDA, Cesium-137 (Cs-137) was detected by U.S. Customs & Border Protection in shipping containers that arrived at ports in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and Savannah. Samples found the presence of Cs-137, a radioactive isotope in a shipment of breaded shrimp.
The FDA confirmed that Walmart received raw frozen shrimp that could be affected by the issue.
Cs-137 is a product of nuclear fission and is used in medical devices and gauges, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains. It can also be used to gauge “the flow of liquid through pipes,” the agency said, and is “present in the environment from weapons testing in the 1950s and 1960s.”
None of the shrimp products, which were processed by a company in Indonesia, that have entered the U.S. market have tested positive or alerted for Cs-137, according to the FDA.
However, the alert warns “the product appears to have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary[sic] conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with Cs-137 and may pose a safety concern.”

Butt butt I want to get super powers from eating radioactive shrimp.😁
Let’s go with your idea - improper disposal of perhaps medical waste. It happened in Brazil when uneducated poor people stole the pretty blue powder (cesium 137) from an abandoned hospital, 4 dead, 249 +radiation exposure/varying sickness. Goiania Accident:

MORE shrimp recalled, 45,000 pounds, also Indonesia sourced, brand AQUA STAR (I buy their frozen salmon fillets all the time!) DM 8/29/25 new:

math math math The half-life of cesium137 is 30 years.
And?
You think that was the only time in the history of the world when medical equipment was not properly disposed of?
Oh boy. Do I have some bad news for you.
Apparently reality bothers you.
Not sure why. None of my business. But you are certainly free to think it was caused by little green men in spaceships if you like.
