And there's this:
Read em’ all. Down and out was all about being down and out-how the Russian triumphantly shared the loaf of bread he was able to get ahold of. Made me wonder how women managed to get by.
Animal Farm
Where he tries so very hard to be honest and gets shot down by his own party.
If Orwell’s novel 1984 is one of your favourites I can recommend Anthony Burgess’s novel “1985”. It consists of two parts. The first is an analysis of “1984” and the second is a short novel set in 1985, seven years ahead of the time it was written. Certain aspects are more reminiscent of the world of today compared to “1984”; islamisation and wokeism. Others like the power of the trade unions are not so. Burgess did not foresee the election of Mrs Thatcher!
Still a good read.
Thanks for posting!! :D
I like his Six Rules for Writing and try to follow them at all times! https://infusion.media/blog/george-orwells-six-rules-for-writing/
Worth investigation: The time Orwell spent in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War where he was befriended by an American diplomat who may have paid the cost of a return trip to England.
