Mr VASKYPILOT and I once saw an emu in Shenandoah National Park. The Park service had a local wild life expert capture it. We spoke to him afterward. He said the main concern is injury to the bird.

No, they were a thing for a while then everyone cut them loose.
I have a colony that survives on my ranch, origin unknown.
I’ve shot them before. Taste like old tough turkey.
They like to follow cows and are pretty skittish to predators, which alerts the mamma cows, so I’m leaving them alone now.
