Dear Forbes,
Ms. Swift makes her living signing about love to teen girls. Most of her songs are about herself. She is 35 and heading for 40 rapidly. How long do you think teens are going to listen to some unmarried woman their Mom’s age singing to them about teen love and romance?
Not much longer. Tick tock on her career.
WHO KNEW that The Swiftie was a practitioner of ASL?
Next, Kelce will start slappin’ her around or cheating on her and she will go country.
Swift has already set the record for pop star longevity by leaps and bounds. Each additional year is just gravy. She has nothing to prove. She is phenomenally successful.
There is no reason to think she can’t keep it going for another 5 years at least.
WOULDN’T BET A DIME ON THAT
Eventually yes the youngsters will stop buying her new albums. But big deal. There’s enough oldsters in her fan base to keep her selling out arenas until she doesn’t feel like doing it anymore. Metallica are in their 60s and sold out many of the same arenas for the same number of nights at Swift. And of course she still might get another generation, look at the Stones. And if she never sells another record or ticket, she’s freaking rich. So, whatever.
Not really. Most of Taylor's fan base are about her age.
Claiming Taylor Swift is the voice of teen girls today would be like going back to 1985 and assuming that, "The kids of today really like Neil Diamond and The Carpenters." while MTV and hair bands are ruling the airwaves.
This being said, every time I've said that the world has passed Taylor Swift by, she's proved me wrong.
