They use both, depending on the patient's condition.
"Ringer's" is mostly NaCl.
BTW: Most Americans are Potassium deficient. It’s also an important electrolyte.
You can check out the RDA and it’s measured in grams. (like 3-4)
How do you get enough of it? Lots of the right fruits and vegetables....or you can get KCl...AKA “salt substitute”.
Ingredient lists for the Raman packages ususally list 30 to 70 ingredients. I use them but try to buy the ones with the least and safest ingredients. Sapporo Ichiban is one of these and one of the cheapest.
Lately I have been using more buckwheat Soba noodles and supplying my own broth and flavorings. The other day I did find this on Amazon:
"Big Green Organic Food- Organic Buckwheat Ramen, 25.3oz, 100% buckwheat. 12 packages"
NO flavorings, but thats ok. Easy to use some Swansons broth and add your own dried mushrooms and vegetables. (the package dried vegetables are marginal at best.) Buckwheat is a complete protein and one package is about 10% of your protein for the day. (If you only weigh 165 Lbs!) Seems like a good pantry or long store item, cooks quickly. (Would NOT work well with Bon's raman salad, has to be cooked.)
(Then there is "Gack", peanut butter mixed with oatmeal and rolled into balls! A memory, but not a "Fond" memory.)
If there are more than three ingredients in any packaged or canned food, it is almost always unhealthy for you.
My son and his IT pals especially like Korean Ramen - they sit in front of computers all day and practically live on the stuff.
Sam, I agree! I have a few packages of the regular, but its pretty much the reason I am moving on 1 or 2 ingredient Soba noodles and those 1 ingrediant Buckwheat Raman noodles.
Always better to have food from your garden if possible. I think the weather, and in your case the fires, this year have been hard on gardeners. (I think that D I W would agree!)
Actually, I think the ash fall (and we had a lot of ashes fall, I was surrounded by three major fires) - helped my garden! I have a record number of peppers this year, they just keep coming and coming (jalapeño relish as Christmas gifts) - my lemon tree is exploding with lemons (lemon curd for Christmas gifts as well) and lots of plants blooming.
My son works behind three large computer screens for his IT job (works from home) - he told me his record session for solving one problem was 72 hours! I worry about these guys’ health - I know they eat a lot of junk food and sit for a lot of hours - thankfully, none of them smoke or drink alcohol except beer on the weekends, still, not a healthy lifestyle.
It is very dry here now in SoCal so we are praying the fires don’t start up.
