A God-Loving Democrat Flees to Illinois to Stop Trump in Texas

From a tiny hotel room that resembles a prison cell, James Talarico says that he will stay away ‘for however long it takes’ to stop a Trump-backed redistricting plan.

James Talarico isn’t like most Democrats. For starters, the Texas state representative is a Joe Rogan–friendly guy whose twang leaks out between critiques of the billionaire class. This week, Talarico is making news for leading an exodus of Texas Democrats who fled the state to block a redistricting vote that could carve out as many as five new Republican congressional seats and help the Republicans keep their House majority next year.

Exodus is apropos because Talarico, 36, is the grandson of a Baptist preacher and works on his Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary studies when the Texas legislature is out of session. He was in Illinois on Wednesday when I asked him about the Trump-backed redistricting plan, what it means to be a God-loving liberal, and the future of the Democratic Party.

Waving a BS flag

We here all understand, I can say without fear of being corrected, that all democrats are pro abortion with likely 0 exceptions. It is the party of abortion Texas Right to Life has this democrat at a 0% score. Democrats and their media now want us to intermittently, on their terms, when benefitting them, pretend this is the party of Harry Truman and the abortion thing is a side issue

It is not.

And one cannot claim to be, or have someone claim for them, on their behalf, that being pro abortion, especially in a lawmaking position of power, and be God loving at the same time.

It is incompatible.

confuse voters and avoid responsibility for turning a blind eye to infanticide.
