Fire chief suspended after he was filmed shouting 'Shut the **** up!' at girl, 10, being stretchered into ambulance

A Long Island police chief has been stripped of his duties after screaming at a young girl to 'shut the **** up' while she was loaded into the fire truck on a stretcher.

In a TikTok video uploaded on Monday, North Babylon Fire Chief Peter Alt berated and hurled obscenities at the 10-year-old girl while she was being strapped onto a stretcher.

'Shut the **** up! It's like this with you every ******* week!' Alt shouted at the child.

As the young girl pleaded with the fire department 'I don't want to go! I want to go home,' Alt responded 'Shut your mouth!'

Alt's outburst came after the girl's family called emergency services for help with calming the child down, her grandmother told NBC New York.

The girl allegedly became emotionally overwhelmed after her phone was taken away, so another family member called the police, who had been kind to them in the past.

A concerned neighbor saw the verbal altercation and began recording.

The child's grandmother, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was not there when the incident took place, but that she was 'devastated' by how the chief handled her granddaughter.

Okay FReepers I'm on the firemans side and here is why, and did you notice this...

"'Shut the **** up! It's like this with you every ******* week!' Alt shouted at the child. "

Every Week? Every Week? Since when does the fire department go pick up unruly children and take them home? I thought the police did that and took them to Juvy?

FReepers what I'm I missing here? If the kid keeps running away either take her to Juvy to to a Chidlren's Nervous Hospital and see what is wrong with her but don't blame the fire man who has more important calls to go to like maybe an actual fire?

Well, I mean, it is Long Island New York.

Those are called "terms of endearment" there.

Yeah, it sounds like there is a lot more to this story. But still harsh language to hurl at a 10 year old girl.

Though, one has to wonder how effective yelling STFU is for calming a hysterical 10 year old.

Also odd: “another family member called the police, who had been kind to them in the past.”

I have another question. Why does a ten year old have a phone?

How much taxpayer money is spent dealing w/kids whose parent’s are unwilling to deal with?

Half the problem is that spanking will get your kids taken from you.

I’ve seen this happen before. People use emergency services as their personal taxi service. They abuse 911 calls too.

“Frequent flyer? “

It seems this Fire Chief knew her and this happens a lot.

“I have another question. Why does a ten year old have a phone?”

I’ve known kids younger than that have a phone. They do have like “Disney Phones” that the kids can only call parents, grandparents, relatives and approved friends. Also 911 if needed. But I don’t think a lot of these parents are using those phones. I would if it were my kid.

The fire chief is dealing with a lot of stress in dealing with his job in NY. Swearing is one way people deal with stress. I suspect the child is autistic and the parents have called multiple time before. Not really the fire departments job. Sounds like the kid needs to be in an institution but we don’t do that anymore.

The family should be charged a fee for the frequent pickups and maybe they’ll stop

He should be suspended with pay. It’s frustration. The suspension would be inline with taking one for the team.

If the child has emotional problems, she may threaten to harm herself or get herself into situations which need fire personnel to extract her or treat her (many fire truck staff are trained paramedics).

The child needs to go into JV services where she gets some discipline.

I agree. Why has no one asked why the parents aren’t controlling their own child? Or that they call and waste first responders weekly for this
I don’t know if it is a small FD but it is not usual for the Fire chief to go on calls unless there is no one else
Sorry he lost his job

I have heard the same or worse from young children at Walmart.
I have to wonder what the 10 year old girl was screaming... I was taught at a young age that when being punished - be it a spanking, grounding, loss of privileges, etc that you SHUT UP AND TAKE IT or it only gets worse. Of course my parents were not into child beating by 60s (or my) standards.
But I have to blame libs and lawyers for the breakdown in discipline - obviously a village CANNOT raise a child.

That’s what my captain hubby calls them and it’s infuriating to the department. This girl sounds like a huge problem child, possibly with mental issues and the parents use the power of the police and/or fire department to solve their problem temporarily.

And yes.....happens more often than you think.
