Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed that he is taking action to prevent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) users from purchasing items such as sugary drinks.
Kennedy pointed out that while people can make their own decisions regarding what to buy and what not to buy, taxpayers in the United States “should not pay” for people on SNAP to purchase items like sugary sodas.
The comments from Kennedy were made as he and U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary joined Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins in celebrating the signing of six new SNAP state waivers, which would “amend the statutory definition of food for purchase and end the subsidization of popular types of junk food beginning in 2026,” according to an HHS press release. States signing the new SNAP waivers include West Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

I am amazed at the “supposedly Conservatives” that seem so willing to give government the right to detail what is ok for us to consume and what is not. Today it’s sugary sodas and SNAP recipients. But we all know, by now, how government takes ANY power given it and takes it to whole new levels over us ALL. Catch a clue, guys.
Today it’s RFK Jr. (a former Democrat, btw). In a few years it could be another nutrition czar (like Michelle Big Mike Obama) telling us what we can’t have.... for our own good, of course.
And I can only imagine how happy the globalist elites will be seeing America give over to government the power to decide what foods ‘certain people’ can or can’t have or buy. I wonder... do they still want that depopulation thingy...?

I am stunned at how many here seem to think it’s “ok” for government to dictate what food items can’t be purchased. And who (which government stooge) gets to decide which foods to ban? Where will it end. With these type of cretins... as they have already shown us... the sky (or rather Hell) is, quite literally, the limit.
Meanwhile... this ‘same government’ that supposedly cares ‘so much’ for our health... is supporting and subsidizing drug addicts, handing out drug paraphernalia and supporting their drug habits with .... you guessed it... taxpayer money.
Nah. If government really cared about Americans’ health, they would open free gyms in every city. They’d give tax exemptions for people buying exercise equipment. They’d be encouraging youths to get outside, engage in sports (without fear of transgenders), and get off the couch-video-games addiction. It’s not just a slippery slope... it’s a trap.
The people here that “think” it won’t affect them because they’re not on SNAP need to grasp reality. Government never just stops at one thing they’ve been given power over. Next time the left is in power, they’ll run with it. And they’ll run right over us all in the process.

Absolutely... The kids are being raised on nothing BUT junk food. The only nutritional meals they get are from school and free taxpayer lunch. Which causes secondary residual costs to the taxpayer because of health problems.

Yes!! The ban should apply to all junk foods! Cookies, chips, candy etc!!!! You want SNAP benefits to “feed the children “ then only nutritious foods like proteins, vegetables, fruits, eggs,cheese, pasta,soup, juices, milk etc are allowed for SNAP money! If you want your kid to have cookies and chips, how about skipping your nail appointment and using your own cash for your kid’s treats!
