Many years ago I went to a talk given by G. Gordon Liddy. He said folks would be surprised about how many people are killed “for reasons of state”.
I know the G-Man had a flair for the dramatic. But still…
“I can kill you with this pencil.” - G. Liddy
Great scene in the Godfather where Michael tells Kay that his father is just like a president or senator. Kay tells Michael that he sounds naive, because presidents and senators don’t have people killed. Michael looks at her and says, “Who’s being naive, Kay?”
When Nebraska state senator John DeCamp was speaking out about a criminal conspiracy within government (ultimately to get child prostitutes to make bribery tapes so federal lawmakers could be extorted) his good military friend who had become director of the CIA told him he should shut up or the CIA would kill him.
The CIA, who is supposed to catch the bad guys, not be the bad guys. And who are forbidden from domestic ops.
Interesting post—I share Liddy’s views on this.
As has been discussed on other threads this could explain Bongino’s comments about shocking stuff he had learned in the past few months.
