I am sorry to hear about the passing of Farcesensitive (spelling?. So young. I imagine he and I had a few exchanges on this forum, but nothing readily comes to mind.
I will probably catch a lot of heat for what I am about to say, but so be it. I think it is something to consider.
I know it was stated he did not take the Covid vaccine.
I am sure he didn’t take it—willingly at least.
I have noticed in some Covid vaccine threads in the main forum that some people have received hostile responses when they confessed they took the Covid vaccine because they were going to be fired otherwise or because they wanted to fly to Italy to say goodbye to their mother who resides there and is dying.
These people have been beaten up on by others who say their life isn’t worth a job and they didn’t try hard enough to find another job or prepare with savings for it to come down to a few months of joblessness or that they should just explain to their mother over the phone why they can’t see her, etc.
It is possible that someone may lie about having been vaccinated to avoid such reactions.
Or a person may be ashamed of taking the vaccine despite having done so in a situation of coercion and going to their vaccine appointment like a condemned prisoner goes to the gallows.
I do not think people who took the vaccine out of threat of losing their job or because they wanted to say goodbye to someone or because they wanted to check up on a grandchild who is being raised by an unfit mother should be ashamed.
I do not know someone’s situation. Some people cannot easily get another job in their field and cannot afford to make half of what they are making if they have dependents or they and family need their health insurance for conditions they have. I can only imagine how awful it would be to be in that position.
I have heard about health care workers who took the jab because they felt if they left the hospital where they work, even if they could have gotten a job in healthcare somewhere else where no mandate was in effect, such as some paper pusher type job somewhere, their patients would die because they are one of the few people who will treat a Covid patient not with Remdevisvir but with common steroids.
I know about a pastor who got the vaccine so he could go into hospitals to see dying parishioners.
I am so grateful I never had to make that choice. Even if my job had been threatened, I had family to live with, no dependents, and could take some low paying cleaning position somewhere if I had to ride things out.
In addition to the perhaps five million (a low estimate???) people in this country who knew the Covid vaccine was bad news and had to take it to keep working, there are probably a million or so retired, self employed, or people in high demand fields who took the vaccine to get access to loved ones in a nursing home, another country, or not have a court take away visitation rights.
I wonder how many of them are surrounded by friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers who were not vaxxed and Covid vaxx dubious and they do not want to admit they took the vaccine for fear of being thought of as weak.
