LOL- this is comforting....when i got the new upgraded license i signed to be an organ donor- which i initially did when i got my license more than forty years ago...
Now what?? I go to the hospital for a broken ankle and they take my kidneys??
How else are you going to pay the hospital bill?

I started my career doing organ transplant and emergency medicine research .
Under no circumstances should you have the organ donor box checked on your drivers license.
In fact, I am of the opinion that a person should have a living will that specifies very strict conditions that must be met before any of your organs can be donated.
One of those conditions is that an unbiased, third party medical expert be retained as your advocate to be consulted (at the hospitals sole expense - trust me , they can afford it) to make sure that you are beyond recovery before any of your organs get harvested.
I think you should be able to work out a payment plan for what your insurance did not cover when you only had your ankle set. A major cardiac event might however trigger a “spare parts” discussion with the billing office.
No you can recind.remind.. but first at motor vehicle then at donor registry
Actually, yes.
I took off organ donor years ago. The doctors, the hospital, the agency collecting organs and everyone involved makes huge profits off organ transplants. Yet, my family gets zero. Until my family can benefit the same way the system does it’s a “No” from me!
