LOL- this is comforting....when i got the new upgraded license i signed to be an organ donor- which i initially did when i got my license more than forty years ago...

Now what?? I go to the hospital for a broken ankle and they take my kidneys??

I started my career doing organ transplant and emergency medicine research .

Under no circumstances should you have the organ donor box checked on your drivers license.

In fact, I am of the opinion that a person should have a living will that specifies very strict conditions that must be met before any of your organs can be donated.

One of those conditions is that an unbiased, third party medical expert be retained as your advocate to be consulted (at the hospitals sole expense - trust me , they can afford it) to make sure that you are beyond recovery before any of your organs get harvested.

Healthcare power of attorney , hcpoa, is usually better than living will. Living willgives more power to doctors and constrains family or hcpoa, docs dont have to listen to them. Hcpoa, docs have to listen to them much more.
