I used to live in Hyde Park. Parking is miserable. the area was already pretty full up, and there are three better libraries (Harper, Regenstein, Crerar) very nearby. Interestingly, the area was dry for restaurants last I checked. The onky Edwardo’s with no beer. U of C students had to go over to 55th for an Old Style.
When I visited Hyde Park in the summer of 1961, I listened to a speaker from Africa espousing anti-colonialist and pro-communist views.
