I seem to remember a big outcry when they were kicking families out of the area they wanted to use for Bammy’s Lie-Barry.

AP(!) says 4,500 families to be displaced:

“Her sentiments represent a tangled conflict that’s unfolded since Barack Obama announced his $500 million presidential center would be built in Jackson Park, near Lake Michigan and where he started his political career, taught law and got married: Could the legacy library of the nation’s first black president propel the displacement of thousands of low-income black families right in his backyard?”

Hyde Park isn't great, but it is better than Kenwood to the north and Woodlawn to the south. Be ing near Lake Shore Drive and Lake Michigan (including "The Point") is extremely desireable). Also near IC/Metra trains. Nicer and safer than the El. Also near the beloved Museum of Science and Industry.

This is probably (from their point of view) the ONE nice thing these people had. No more.
