Las Vegas is experiencing a notable downturn in tourism, with hotel occupancy, visitor numbers and spending all slipping.
Industry data points to several key reasons behind the shift, including rising costs, fewer international travellers, and broader economic uncertainties.
Drop in international visitors and hotel occupancy
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, hotel occupancy dropped to just 66.7% in early July—a sharp fall from the previous year—and international visitors.
Domestic arrivals also fell by around 6.5%, and traffic through Harry Reid International Airport declined nearly 4% overall.

Last time we were there, a Denny's just off the strip was packed to the gills with regular folks like my wife and I looking for a reasonably priced breakfast.
We never stayed in Vegas again. If we flew in after that, we'd take the airport shuttle to the car rental center and drive to Mesquite, where their casinos still offer $10 stake dinners and $60 per night hotel rooms. They basically screwed the pooch with their greed.
It used to be fun to see the show girls and cowboys on the strip. They have basically been replaced with prostitutes and shemale metrosexuals with pony tails. Human dumpster diving if you catch my drift.
I hear they’re starting a new service, where you call ahead for your reservation then go through the drive through hand them your money and leave.
Instead of a fish-bar they’ve made a fish-city.
I think the real reason is that women are murdered every day in Las Vegas.

The mob had standards. They wouldn't crap in their own nest. Even the hits on their rivals would take place in California far away from the glitzy lights of Vegas.
The mob also paid the police, school teachers and hospital staff well. They wanted the best for their families.
They even liked modest spending tourists because, even if they didn't bring in much money, there was a lot of them bringing in a little that added up to a lot and made skimming all that much easier. There is a different kind of mob running the city now called Democrat politicians!

Even the off season would be cheaper. People seem to have a lot of money for concerts and sports tickets. Unless they’re paying with plastic. I see a lot of people at farm markets for a day with the kids. Before COVID the place would almost be empty on a hot Saturday afternoon in the summer. Now it’s packed even though produce cost double than Wal-Mart there.
MGM and Caesars between them control the Strip. There is a lot less competition between properties .

I lived and worked in Reno around 1977-78. Worked on the MGM Grand and apartments. You could find a Motel apt, for $105 a week, fridge, stove, a bedroom, and a living room with a fold out couch. 4 days pays a months rent. The city was clean, lots of fun, even skiing in the winter. I wonder what the cost to live there is in 2025?
Two years ago going though Vegas on my way home, I stopped to go to the bathroom. I couldn’t find a single place that would let me, so I used the homeless solution. Against a wall in the parking lot. WHATADUMP..
The ironic part is that the southern part of the Atlantic city strip (technically Ventnor city) is VERY nice. However, it mostly residential. It does not have big casinos and urban decay.

And every hotel and bar has bands playing that are great. It is the place for live music, bar none.
We’re blessed not to have you come. Disney area is already too crowded and traffic is a nightmare. I hope more like you stay away.
Why has Disney been complaining the last two or three years that attendance is down and below goals?
In your mind maybe. Disney hasn’t gone down in population. In fact, they have to turn away some.
