That is the real issue for all of the “destination casinos”.
I can think of ten casinos that are all within a 2-3 hour drive from where I sit right now in southern NH.
There are now even two right here in Nashua. What used to be a Sheraton Tara hotel is now the “Nash” casino.
Then there is the Encore on the north side of Boston that is owned by Wynn. Then there is an MGM in Springfield, MA.
Then the two in CT. One in RI. One up in Maine.
There are casinos EVERYWHERE now. That is Vegas issue. Oversaturation.
Phoenix is closer than Vegas?
Another one who is full of shit.
I go there in the winter for hiking.
After experiencing air travel these days, I have decided to avoid it. I enjoy Vegas, but not worth dealing with travel to get there and back.
I noticed in my budget this is the first year we are over budget nearly every month on groceries. The budget for eating out was already lower this year.
The mob didn't have sleazy, smelly bums handing out p0rn0gr@phic "business cards" on the strip ...
Phoenix is 3 and a half hours from here...if your lucky.
Vegas is just over an hour. And the road down through Searchlight is way safer than that hole down in the valley of the sun.
Last time I was there was in 2017. Stayed at the MGM "Signature" hotel. There was nothing "signature" about it. It was crawling with trashy people. I rode down the elevator with a woman wearing... almost nothing, and what there was, was sheer - this was at 10:30 AM. And no, she had no business or body to be wearing it, in private or otherwise. The place was also full of drunk college kids, and the lazy river at the hotel pool was full of empty beer cans and coolers. Walking down the street was tedious, at best. Dirtbags constantly trying to hand you cards, drug addicts and criminals all over. And of course, everything overpriced and low quality.
Can't imagine what it must be like today.
I haven’t been there since Covid, but I could still get a 3:2 game however, the minimum was $25. The Mirage used to run a $25 minimum game with 3:2 blackjack, surrender, and double after split, which is a pretty good game. I’m thinking about going back around the end of the year. I’ll have to see if they’re still running it. I’m not hopeful. Craps is pretty good game as far as odds are concerned, but the tables get crowded, and you have to pay attention more than I like to do in Vegas.
Exactly!!! Its still like that at the Flamingo- the entrance to the casino is just steps off the sidewalk...meanwhile its a half mile walk into Caesars!!
That’s disappointing to hear. My favorite part of Vegas was pigging out for cheap. I’m not really a big gambler but i did like drinking and eating for a decent price
They need to Make Vegas Cheap Again !
Melanated peoples fighting every where don’t help.
Yes. It’s a problem when the casinos ban anyone who actually wins at gambling.
Not too long ago reports of bed bugs at a couple of casinos.
I think how busy Vegas indicative of how much graft in business and government is going on. take care of government graft (pilfering of budgetary funds) and Vegas suffers along with Indian casinos. this extends to all over the economy when it comes to over the top luxury items. this is across the board internationally when it comes to aid to foreign countries. closing down US AID probably hit Vegas hard.
Is that show from the fabulous Stardust, that you could hear on AM radio at night when propagation was right?
Yes and good views at the river and boats too.
Yep, 50,000 watt station. Pete’s show on sports betting could be heard in 11 States and even in Hawaii if the ionosphere cooperated. One of Pete’s frequent guests was NFL great Jim Brown.
Vegas used to have free food to attract visitors. And reasonable, low show prices. Hotels were the full range from inexpensive Motel 6 (at $6) to luxury suites, but you could choose your price point. And while the casino games were mostly honest, the odds are always with the house... so the profits were made from the casinos.
Basically, none of the above still exists in Vegas. It has become a money-gouging place and the streets are filthy almost as bad as LA or SF
clean up Vegas, return the marketing and price points to attract regular working and retired people again. Problem solved.
If the Casinos would just let the hooples win a little bit more . . .
