Bill Shatner’s cover of “Rocket MAAAn” is maybe the best cover of all times by contrast.

Also...
Celine Dion did a cover of AC/DC Shook Me All Night Long. I would like that removed from my head, please.

When I was kid, I remember running to turn off the TV when Paul Lynde started to sing Captain & Tennielle’s hit “Love Will Keep Us Together.”

Not sure this counts as a cover, since the two songs were 14 years apart, but the Beatles' version of Meredith Willson's 1950 hit
Till I Met You, which they released in 1964 as "Till There Was You," is not one of their greatest performances.
Incidentally, Meredith Willson called my father, a music teacher, on the phone in the summer of 1958 to discuss a matter involving music. It's not often that a real live hitmaker calls you on the phone.

Tip-Toe Thru' the Tulips by Nick Lucas (1929) had some great cover versions by
Gene Goldkette and
Don Voorhees. But 39 years later, another version came out which is so bad that I refuse to post a link to it. Nonetheless, it was probably the bestselling version.
