Obama library shapes up as the ugliest thing on Earth
American Thinker ^ | 25 Jul, 2026 | Monica Showalter

Barack Obama's presidency stunk, and so does the building he's building to celebrate his 'legacy.'

Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted pictures of its emerging look:

Obama’s presidential library looks like…[FILL IN THE BLANK]. pic.twitter.com/Y7wcVP0T6m

— Laura Ingraham (@IngrahamAngle) July 25, 2025 It's a monument to megalomania, monomania, and ego.

It's been plagued by community protests, cost overrun, no-bid contracts with shoddy materials and all the other hallmarks of a one-party blue city and its government.

Which pretty well describes Obama's political career -- an ugly career demands an ugly building.

All the same, who the heck approved the design of this nightmare -- which by the way, contains no books, and serves as just a monument to Obama and his mighty uncontrolled ego and god complex. It's reflective ... even if light sinks into it like a black hole.

According to Wikipedia:

The Barack Obama Presidential Center is a planned museum, library, and education project in Chicago to commemorate the presidency of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States.[2][3] The center will also include community and conference facilities and will house the nonprofit Obama Foundation. Construction on the 19.3-acre (7.8 ha) campus began in 2021, the tower topped out in mid-2024, and the center is expected to open in the first half of 2026.[4][5][6]

The center's work includes digitizing the Barack Obama Presidential Library with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), to create the first fully digitized presidential library.[2] The Library is administered by NARA, which will preserve hardcopies of documents at a separate NARA facility; however, many will be loaned to the Presidential Center for display.[2]

The center is located in Jackson Park on the South Side of Chicago, adjacent to the University of Chicago campus.[7] The university provides planning, support, engagement and programming.[8]

It even has a mini Kaaba at the top. What are the odds that the main entrance faces Mecca?

It looks like a flak tower. Make a good prison for Big O.

This Boobamba monstrosity reminds me of another gray, odd-shaped building north of Tokyo, the Kadokawa Culture Museum, built by a publisher of magazines and books.

The difference is the one near Tokyo is a work of art with many kinds of gray slate -- gorgeous to look at with a reflecting lake and museum inside.

Digital camouflage siding? Maybe the architect knew it was ugly and incorporated that so people would not notice how fugly it is?

Yet another reason to not send money to my alma mater, University of Chicago.

They had SO many lovely buildings, mostly on the other side of the Midway built with Law Department money. They also had some of the most dismal 1940s concrete rectangles, like the administration building next to the lovely Cobb Hall on the main quadrangle.

I went to Humanities classes in the same World War I temporary building where my mother met my father in 1928. That was another NOT architectural marvel, fond as I was of the building.

And the Gothic touches on the wonderful old buildings were decidedly dangerous. We were warned about pediments falling off old buildings that ended up in the Gargoyle Graveyard.

I look forward to the first (formerly known as “Tweet”) from Donald Trump referring to the building as “Treason Tower”.

Is THAT it’s final outside appearance?

If so, the article isn’t exaggerating.

It looks like they used most of the design elements of WWII German flak towers.

Obama has topped the Bill Clinton Library and Adult Book Store double wide over Arkansas River in ugly brutalist architecture. Note that both Clinton and Obama seldom appear in the Mid-American cities where they rose to influence, preferring the East Coast venues near the liberal elite power centers of New York and Washington. You will not see Clinton vacationing at Branson or Obama at Wisconsin Dells with the riff raff but with the ruling class at Martha's Vineyard. Unfortunately for Clinton, Jeffrey Epstein's “resorts” are no longer in business.

In the Google Earth street view, there are images of the park they took over for this mess. It really is a sad eminent domain abomination in a central location of the Midway Plaisance exactly as a Mosque would be.

“Make a good prison for Big O.”

That’s exactly what should happen after after he is convicted: lock him in the thing and wait until it collapses upon him, which should take about a week if the stories about the shoddy construction are true.
