I used to be extremely critical of suicide, but as I get older, I’m surrounded by people my age who have no support system after loved ones around them die or otherwise leave. I cannot imagine the hopelessness of some of their situations as they become infirm and ill.
I even had a late-60’s friend of mine tell me outright that when his wife passes away, he’ll probably do himself in, being childless.
Well that’s odd. All the PSAs I’ve been seeing lately tell us how guns are the main choice for sewercides. The 100,000+ drug ODs per year, I guess, aren’t classified as that.
The wife watches that stuff. I told her the day the news hit that it was a suicide.
I never heard Ann talk politics on her shows or even hint. I liked her on Food Channel and she was definitely the real deal as a chef. RIP.
“I used to be extremely critical of suicide...”
Same here. I thought it was selfish and pure weakness. But as I’ve grown older and seen people around me struggle, fall into depair, have no loved ones left in their lives, I get it. It’s not so simple. It’s not quite what I thought it was.
Waiting for RFKjr to ban those OTC antihistamines because they’re ineffective. </sarc>
Johnny Bravo...
Should be legal. Just don’t make somebody else clean up the mess.
It’s like kinky sex-as long as you don’t scare the barnyard animals.
This describes me. My wife died and I have no one but I am not killing myself.
All I see on that med list are drugs for sinus treatment and some alcohol. It must have been the quantity of these meds ingested at once that did her in.
I was using diphenhydramine as needed for my sinuses, untila few months ago, when I read prolonged use of that drug might make dementia more likely.
Find people that need love. There are lots of them.
Anne Burrell met her husband Stuart Claxton on Bumble in 2018. They got engaged in 2020 and said 'I do' in October 2o21.
Guess her family will get paid.
She was a first class chef and I’m betting a really kind person. Never heard her talk politics... Prayers for her family and loved ones.
Ick!!!!! Good call Anne. . . .
Cโmon people, we didn't walk in her shoes so we don't know why she chose to take her own life but the hateful comments here are really out of character for FR. Knock it off!
Sorry to hear, my man. Take care.
