A man was pushed to his limits in a job interview and scolded the man he was interviewing
A man revealed on Reddit that he told a job candidate he needed to "shut up and listen" after an exhausting interview.
In the post, the man explained that he and his colleague were "interviewing this guy for a very good software engineering position." The candidate passed the first round, and everyone agreed that he had a great "resume and experience."
"On paper, he had everything we were looking for, and honestly, this looked like a life-changing opportunity for him," the poster explains.
However, when the man showed up for the second interview, he was "very serious and not smiling at all."
After a round of introductions, the man immediately asked if he could tell them a bit about himself.
“He started talking and talking about his personal and professional background. After about three minutes, I jumped in to ask a follow-up question based on something he mentioned. He replied, 'I will answer, just give me a moment,' and continued talking,” the man recalls.
“A coworker jumped in with another question, and he said the same thing to her. But after more than five minutes, I jumped in again with another question. I had to talk over him to do it," the poster adds. "He finally paused and answered, but in such a long-winded way that he ended up veering into another topic."

I wonder if he was on Adderall or Ritalin or some GenZ meds.
I recall watching confessions from a tech boss who used the interview process to get coding answers his own staff couldn't figure out. He'd post a job position for a much higher level than he had in-house, interview several candidates to get their answers, but hire none of them. He'd only have to do it once in a while and it was far cheaper than subbing the job out.
He wasn't alone in doing that.
Sounds like he was a meth-head.
Excellent words of wisdom. Too bad most people don't know or follow it.
I think of Ben Affleck’s job interview in Goodwill Hunting. He may have impersonated Damon’s character wearing sneakers with the suit.
Monotone speech, talking continuously and not recognizing interviewers’annoyance...clearly Asperger’s.
The important thing to realize. Will the candidate make the company money. He is a software engineer. Engineers are not known for their social skills and personality. At the end of the day, regardless of he talks, I want to know whomever works for me will make money.

LOL
Can you please supply a link to that video, or what YouTube “channel” to search for it?
I remember my interview for my first corporate job after leaving the Air Force. I had been extensively coached by the recruiter on what to say. Midway through, the interviewer basically told me to shut up and listen. And yes, I got the job.
The guy probably followed his girlfriend’s advice.
Can he make you money if he won't work with the rest of your team? How about if he doesn't listen to company or customer needs?
I recall seeing the expose on television years ago. I’d have to go digging to see if I could find it.
