Allow me to be dense. What I don't understand about this is how they are detecting changes in the received spectrum from these FRBs when they don't know the incident spectrum at their respective sources.
Help me out here. Are these simply presumed based upon statistical data of the behavior of FRBs? Are these "shifts" so big they are obvious? I don't get it.

Sorry.
It was all under my bed.
I was afraid to admit it.

Where did all the matter go?
To another dimension.

Measure the time lag of the different ‘colors’ of the same FRB spectrum.........

For something that large, she would need a convex mirror to give enough surface area.

Quantum Superposition means a particle can exist in multiple states simultaneously.
An electron can be here and there.
A photon can spin clockwise and counterclockwise.
An atom can be excited and relaxed at the same time.
We only see one outcome when we measure it. (Heisenberg effect)
I can be excited and relaxed at the same time.

Measure the time lag of the different ‘colors’ of the same FRB spectrum......... I understood the metric. What I don't understand is how they know what was the spectrum at the source by which to measure the change.
If I have a flashlight, and I shoot it through a lens, if I don't know anything about that lens or the incident source, how do I characterize the lens from the detecting instruments at the receiving side of the lens?

Sounds like a better way to describe what we cannot see.
All that Fog? Does not sound like good explanation.

Where did all the matter go? To another dimension. Who knows? Maybe to Heaven which is beyond the universe.

Yes.
My point, man is not meant to understand everything. Just to keep us in our place.
AI will not be the solution either.
God is laughing at us. Smile.

We know that certain elements absorb certain wavelengths and not others. So if a certain wavelength is missing, slowed or shifted, then we know that some particular matter must be in between the source and our observation...........
