Our education system feeds them a fantasy version of socialism that makes all things better, a trend that must stop if America is to survive.
Once seen as a taboo word in American politics, socialism has experienced a notable resurgence, especially among young voters. Polls show that more than half of millennials and Gen Zers now view socialism favorably. Politicians like Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have transformed what was once a fringe ideology into a highly popular political movement.
Even more troubling, they’ve achieved this not through real policy solutions but by promoting a utopian fantasy rooted in grievance, entitlement, and historical ignorance.
Socialism is a system of “governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.” No truly socialist society has achieved a level of plenty or freedom comparable to America.
A Cato/YouGov survey conducted in March found that “62 percent of American adults under 30 say they hold favorable views of socialism.” Rasmussen Reports observed a similar sentiment this past May, with 50% of voters under 30 indicating they want a democratic socialist to win the next presidential election.
Why are so many young Americans falling for it?
To be clear, this movement isn’t rooted in careful study of history or economics. It’s fueled by emotion rather than reason. It thrives because too many young people have been raised to believe that discomfort equals injustice and that government is the answer to every problem.
Today’s young adults have grown up in a culture that promotes victimhood instead of resilience. From K-12 schools to college campuses, they have been taught that life is unfair, that capitalism is oppressive, and others—corporations, the wealthy, or “the system”—cause their struggles.

The Bolsheviks promised, “Land, Peace, Bread”.
I mean, who could argue with that?
Then again, as we saw throughout the Fauci Flu debacle, many people want to be controlled by others ... to be told how to live their lives. (Perhaps this develops from living in their parents' basement and under their parents' control into their 30s.)
Do you know how this stops, boys and girls of FR? Conservatives have to become school teachers, principles, and college professors. They have get themselves posted in state educational agencies. They’ll have to, gasp, participate in their own governance above and beyond voting.
Demanded by parents. People of FR, the blame for the erosion of the school system rests entirely on parents.
The young look at all the words and flowery ideas spoken about socialism and they believe that is the way we should go...
They have not looked at all the true and honest results of socialism that have already happened in the world.
Even when they do view the results, they will say “But, we’ll do it different and better...”
Yeah......Riiiiiight....
Because they are jealous about the way the DemonRATS treat their socialist, illegal alien LOSERS when they sneak into America. Free stuff all over the big piñata. Free for the taking by any and all socialist piggies feeding off the American teat.
They think that it will elevate the less fortunate to the same way of life they enjoy rather than drastically reducing their own way of life in the effort to make things “equal”
Ok....we know the problem. What’s the solution?
Idea: School choice!
Idea: College-level certifying exams. Eliminate college!
The Slave doesn’t dream of freedom, he dreams of being Master.
I’ve always heard socialists say that NASA is an example of Socialism.
In Capitalism, Bread waits for man
In Socialism, Man waits for bread
This will be interesting with the Instant Gratification era.
If you’re not a socialist at 20, you have no heart. But if you’re not a capitalist at 40, you have no brain.
That’s why NASA devolved into another failed govt agency...even promoting imaginary Muzzoid contributions.
Excellent article by American Thinker, as usual.
No, they’ve been brainwashed and decieved.
The end result of socialism/communism is that it pits all kinds of groups against each other as they fight for their share of the resources.
A classic example was in the Soviet Union with farmers vs industrial workers, as food was siphoned to the industrial centers, leading to mass famines in the countryside.
Yup.
One of the biggest lies associated with socialism is that nobody has done it right yet, but this time we will.
Except, precedent shows that won’t happen.
