I wrote of our experience on a vacation to LV a few years ago, how worse things in general were and more dangerous it seemed/was than the late 90s.

However I was floored at how many unsolved homicides LV has, page after page. I noticed it’s not good to be an attractive young lady on your own there either.

Also quite a few of the older murders seem suspiciously mob like (one example was a professional gambler disappeared and found in a shallow grave 20 miles out in the desert stripped of his I.D. And clothes etc).

PS Notice on the side bar you can scroll for different decades

I’m amazed how many “normal” Americans vacation in really dangerous placed and just assume it “won’t happen to them”.

Heck, I was in Detroit around the turn of the century and at around 2:00 a.m. was walking back from Greektown to my hotel, that five tower old GM hotel.

I learned later from the guys in my company’s Detroit office that it was like I was on a suicide mission. 🤣

But yeah, I have no reason to go to Vegas, Reno, et al. But it’s fun to see it in Diamonds Are Forever. 😋

I've been to Vegas a couple of times...most recently about 40 years ago. Even back then it was an incredibly tacky town but I must say that my girlfriend (who was living there) and the countryside surrounding Vegas were amazing. It's my understanding that today it's even more tacky.

If I never set foot in Vegas again I will not feel that life has cheated me.

In the “old days” it was said the largest cemetery in America was between Vegas and LA.

Nobody goes there anymore because it’s too crowded.

I mentioned the young women. Some probably were prosties but I noticed a few were tragically young.

I guess for a serial sexual killer it’s a perfect environment and yes with a perfect place all around it to hide bodies.

I’ve been to Vegas more than 20 times. My sis and parents used to live there (Michigan transplants). I haven’t been there in about 10 years. In addition to gambling, it’s a great place to people watch. Be aware in that town.

Watch some mafia videos and you’ll know EXACTLY what happened in the unsolved murders.

My niece was working as a waitress in Vegas. She shared a cheap crappy apartment with two other girls. One day armed, masked robbers entered their apartment and stole whatever they could get while the girls were there. The girls were lucky that that’s all the punks did. My sister-in-law drove down there and moved her home the next day.

But really, stealing from people in a low rent apartment? Vegas criminals are really the bottom of the barrel.

20s-40s: transient crime
40s-50s: blue collar crime
50s-70s: mob crime
60s-70s (and 80s) looks like serial murderer of women and mob
80s-90s: mob + robbery/burglary
90s-2000: young minorities + meth/drugs/robbery
2000-present: don't be black/Hispanic around drugs or a mudshark

Vegas used to be a fun, cheap place to go in the “old days” - hotel rooms were cheap, even the nice ones, the .99 buffets, shrimp cocktails and giant hot dogs. Always fun to walk around, felt completely safe.

Not so anymore. I consider it a very dangerous place especially after the sun goes down.

Took some relatives there a couple of years ago from the East Coast - they wanted to go downtown for some reason, which we did. Many “hip-hop” buskers “breakdancing,” etc. Didn’t like the crowd and couldn’t wait to get out of there. Relatives said they’d never go back.

I was there for my sis 60th birthday six years ago. We had a great time with all siblings! Stayed at the Bellagio four days. Great food. Great shows.

I was stationed at Nellis AFB, just a bit North of town, for over half my career.

We fled the area in 1991 after the base Security Police were walking a beat in the base housing area to **try** and control the gang bangers.

I’ve been back, but mostly to drive thru. Too many people and not near enough water. And way too many gang-bangers.

Last time (and I also mean the last time I will ever go) we went I was shocked at the sheer number of homeless. I noticed unlike many cities there is no “area” for homeless. You can drive 4 miles from the city center in any direction and look up any random alley and see 1-2 or more homeless.

LV claimed like 70,000, which is like Bondi and Patel saying there is “no list” with the Epstein case.

I have a strong suspicion that some of the victims may have been the perpetrators of some of the other murders.
