Maine Governor Janet Mills is building a $4.5 million reinforced steel wall around her official residence, days after she was grilled about alleged cocaine use.
The ongoing works around Blaine House follow a 2018 security study and is expected to cost $4.5 million, it involves a new perimeter made from stone masonry and metal.
Crews are working on building a new perimeter fence around the property, and images have surfaced showing a temporary steel fence thrown round the residence.
On top of the bolstered border, a new security system will be installed alongside new lighting and cameras.
A spokesperson said the fence would provide 'more substantial and provide greater security' than the previous wooden picket fence.
Mills, who was recently pressed about her alleged cocaine habit back in the 90s, is overseeing the project which is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
While in Washington DC last month, a man had approached the 77-year-old and questioned her over her alleged use of the illegal substance.
The brazen interviewer asked her: 'Is sniffing cocaine at work a human right, Janet?', she hit back asking him: 'What the ****?'.

That is a serious fence, I wonder what the Maine voters of the year 2000 would have thought of such massive defensive infrastructure, they may have started voted against what was coming if they had been able to add things together.
Looks like she also had trees removed to create clear fields of fire.
Haven’t dozens/hundreds of houses in Maine, owned by Chinese citizens, been used for marijuana grow operations? Don’t the penalties for up to 40 pounds of pot grown amount to little more than a slap on the wrist?
She will not win an election ever again.
