Maine Governor Janet Mills is building a $4.5 million reinforced steel wall around her official residence, days after she was grilled about alleged cocaine use.
The ongoing works around Blaine House follow a 2018 security study and is expected to cost $4.5 million, it involves a new perimeter made from stone masonry and metal.
Crews are working on building a new perimeter fence around the property, and images have surfaced showing a temporary steel fence thrown round the residence.
On top of the bolstered border, a new security system will be installed alongside new lighting and cameras.
A spokesperson said the fence would provide 'more substantial and provide greater security' than the previous wooden picket fence.
Mills, who was recently pressed about her alleged cocaine habit back in the 90s, is overseeing the project which is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
While in Washington DC last month, a man had approached the 77-year-old and questioned her over her alleged use of the illegal substance.
The brazen interviewer asked her: 'Is sniffing cocaine at work a human right, Janet?', she hit back asking him: 'What the ****?'.

Janet Mills does not appear to be transparent or truthful. She seems concerned about securing her border, Maine is not sending their best to represent..
So, by the optics, one could say shes self-imprisonating herself...
Born in Maine, lived here most of my life.
Used to be an incredibly independent state. As in people were self sufficient. Didn’t want government intrusion.
People like Mills would have been laughed out of town.
It’s been ruined by open borders, and “free stuff” to layabouts and illegals. Paid for by the dwindling workers.
Freeloaders vote, and vote for “free stuff” instead of freedom. New 12 week “Family Leave” tax adds insult to injury.
We had Paul LePage as previous Gov, good guy, railroaded by the fear mongers. And ensured to never win again via ranked choice voting.
I plan to keep fighting best I can, but feels like it’s a losing battle.
And sharks/alligators with freeking lazer beams.
